The iPhone 17 Pro is last year's Pro phone, which in Malaysia right now means the same A19 Pro chip and the same ProRes RAW video tools as the 2026 Pro line, for roughly RM450 less than the iPhone 18 Pro. The camera hardware genuinely did not change between generations (Apple carried the same 48MP main, ultrawide and telephoto sensors into the 18 Pro), so anyone who does not need this year's variable-aperture main camera or film-grain photo styles is not giving anything up on the sensor itself.

Best overall: Apple iPhone 18 Pro
This is the iPhone we would buy with no other constraint. The variable aperture main camera and new film-grain photographic styles are new this generation, and Apple held the Malaysia launch price at RM5,499, exactly what the iPhone 17 Pro launched at a year earlier, so there is no year-on-year price jump on this specific phone even though the rest of the range moved. The A19 Pro chip benchmarks ahead of every Android flagship we have tested for sustained, not just burst, performance.
Best camera and battery: Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max
Same sensor and chip as the 18 Pro, in a larger body that buys the longest battery life in the current iPhone line. Worth the extra RM500 over the 18 Pro specifically if you shoot a lot of video away from a charger, or if the bigger screen matters more to you than pocketability.

Best for a tight budget: Apple iPhone 17e
The cheapest iPhone Apple currently sells in Malaysia, and the only reason its price moved this month is that Apple raised it by RM300 alongside the 17 and Air, not because anything about the phone changed. You get this year's A19 chip and satellite SOS and satellite messaging, carried over from the flagship line, but only one 48MP rear camera with no ultrawide or telephoto lens. Fine for anyone whose deciding factor is the Apple ecosystem and long iOS update support, not photography.

Best value flagship: Apple iPhone 17
Sits almost exactly between the 17e and the Pro line: two rear cameras (48MP main and 48MP ultrawide, both upgraded from the iPhone 16) instead of the 17e's one, and a brighter always-on display, for RM1,200 less than the 18 Pro. The gap between this and the 18 Pro has narrowed since September's price rise, so if you were treating the standard iPhone as the automatic value pick, it is worth actually running the RM1,200 difference against what the Pro camera is worth to you.

Best for thin and light: Apple iPhone Air
Apple's thinnest and lightest iPhone ever, at 5.6mm, built around a single rear camera rather than the Pro's three. The reason it is our pick despite that trade-off: the live Shopee Malaysia price from an official Apple reseller is RM3,789 for this 256GB model, well under Apple's own RM5,299 list price for the same phone, which is not something we can say about any of the other five phones on this page. If the trade-off (one camera, a smaller battery than the Pro line) does not bother you, this is currently the best-value phone in Apple's whole 2026 Malaysia range, not just the cheapest Air.

Worth Knowing: The iPhone Duo Is Coming, but Not Yet
Apple's first folding iPhone, the iPhone Duo, is not on this list because it is not buyable yet: Malaysia pre-orders open 16 October 2026 and it reaches stores on 23 October, at RM9,499 for 256GB up to RM15,499 for 2TB.
