Top Air Cond Services publishes the cheapest starting prices of the companies we could verify: a general clean from RM50, a chemical wash from RM120 and an overhaul from RM180, all for a wall-mounted split unit in Kuala Lumpur. Repairs and gas top-ups are quoted after it sees the unit, so ask for the number before you agree. It says most appointments land within 1 to 3 days. It states no warranty period, so ask for one in writing.

Best for a full public price list: Aircon Hero
Aircon Hero lists its whole price table online, by unit type and by how many units you book. For a wall-mounted unit a basic service is RM88 for one unit, RM78 each for two and RM68 each for three or more. A full chemical service is RM198 for one unit, RM168 each for two and RM148 each for three or more, with a 1-month warranty. A gas top-up for a 1 to 1.5HP unit is RM158. Overhaul, leak fixes and installation are quote only.

Acontech works in the Klang Valley and takes payment only after the job is done, with no booking fee or advance payment. Its chemical wash, which it says is quicker because the unit is not taken apart, is RM150 for 1HP, RM170 for 1.5HP, RM210 for 2HP and RM240 for 2.5HP, and includes a gas refill. It offers a 15-day satisfaction guarantee for homes and 30 days for companies. Only the chemical wash has a published price, so ask for the rest.

AC Cool N Cool answers its emergency line around the clock and takes bookings from 9am to 10pm every day. For a wall-mounted unit it charges RM75 to troubleshoot, RM80 for a general service of one unit (RM70 each for two, RM60 each for three or more) and RM150 for a chemical wash of one unit (RM130 each for two, falling to RM100 each at five or more). The troubleshooting fee is charged whether or not you go ahead with the repair, and the general service carries no warranty.

Aircon Expert prices its chemical wash on one table by horsepower. A split unit is RM160 for 1 to 1.5HP, RM210 for 2HP and RM280 for 2.5 to 3HP. A ceiling or cassette unit is RM270 for 1 to 1.5HP, RM380 for 2 to 2.5HP, RM480 for 3 to 3.5HP and RM650 for 4 to 6HP. It promises a follow-up visit within 7 days and a reply to enquiries within 24 hours. There is no price for a plain clean without the chemical wash, and the old RM150 starting figure is now RM160.

AirPro Experts gives a 6-month warranty on every repair it carries out, the longest repair warranty we found among the companies that state one. Its homepage shows a chemical cleaning and inspection at RM130. It has no price list by unit size, so confirm the figure for your horsepower when you call. It opens Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5pm.

Honest ranges: for one wall-mounted unit, expect about RM50 to RM88 for a general clean, RM120 to RM198 for a chemical wash, from RM180 for an overhaul (only Top Air Cond Services publishes one) and about RM158 for a gas top-up (only Aircon Hero publishes a price outside a wash). Up Your Home Services is a property maintenance company where aircond servicing is one of several trades, alongside plumbing and electrical work. Ask the price for your unit before you book
Prices depend on horsepower and on whether the unit is wall-mounted or a cassette. Get the figure for your exact unit and the number of units in writing on WhatsApp.
Ask whether gas and troubleshooting are included
A chemical wash that includes a gas refill (Acontech) is not comparable to one that does not. A troubleshooting fee can also be charged even if you decline the repair (AC Cool N Cool charges RM75).
Ask for the warranty period on the work
Warranties we found: Aircon Hero 1 month on a chemical service, Acontech 15 days for homes, AC Cool N Cool 45 days on water leaks after a chemical wash, AirPro 6 months on repairs, Isotech 1 year on installed units, Up Your Home Services 30 days on workmanship. Top Air Cond Services and Aircon Expert state no period for a clean, so ask. A warranty on a general service is rare.
Match the service to the problem
A general clean (filters, indoor body, a quick check) suits a unit that still cools well and is done every 2 to 4 months by the companies that state a gap. A chemical wash suits a unit that smells, drips or cools weakly. An overhaul is a full strip-down for a unit not serviced in years. If the unit is not cold at all, ask for troubleshooting first, not a wash.

We kept the six that publish a price and a way to contact them, moved two that publish no price to the quote-only list, and removed three: Doktor Air (its web address now shows an unrelated site), AAA Fix-It and BC Air-Conditioning Services (their websites returned server errors when we checked). Prices are what each company shows, so confirm the final figure with them.
