If you own a Samsung Galaxy Watch, the reason to open the Samsung Health app just grew. Samsung Malaysia has rolled out an updated health experience for the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2, built to turn raw numbers into guidance you can act on during an ordinary day.

What the new Galaxy Watch health tools do
The headline additions sit around nutrition and effort. Nutrition Alert estimates how much fluid you lose during a long workout, based on sweat relative to body weight, then suggests when and how much to drink. In Malaysia's heat and humidity, that turns hydration into something you track alongside pace and distance rather than guess at.

Three more metrics aim to explain your overall condition rather than just log it:
- Heart Health Score combines activity, sleep, body composition and stress trends into a single reading.
- Daily Cardio Load shows how hard you trained and how much recovery you need.
- Fitness Index gives a broader view of fitness and sets goals around your activity and body composition.
Galaxy Watch9 owners also get overnight tracking that builds a personal baseline through Vitals, so changes over time stand out. We covered how the watch reads five heart signals while you sleep when that feature arrived.
Why Samsung is pushing movement here
The health push lands against a clear local backdrop. Malaysia's National Health and Morbidity Survey 2023 found that one in three adults is not physically active and about half lead sedentary lifestyles. Its nutrition study reported that only 17.1% of adults eat the recommended two servings of fruit a day, and only 12.2% reach three servings of vegetables.

"We shouldn't wait for something to go wrong before thinking about our health," said Charles Kim, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics. The company's argument is that small, tracked habits are easier to keep than a full lifestyle overhaul.
The HOKA tie-up and step challenge
To turn that into action, Samsung ran a nationwide Move Together with Malaysia step challenge on the Samsung Health app. The most recent round, which closed in September, drew more than 10,000 participants aiming for 150,000 steps over three weeks, with a RM200 voucher for those who finished. Samsung also held a community run in Kuala Lumpur on 5 September with sportswear brand HOKA.

The partnership carries an offer too: Samsung Members can redeem an e-voucher for 20% off selected HOKA products through the Samsung Members app, valid until 31 December 2026.

Availability
The features run on the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2, both already on sale in Malaysia. If you are weighing the hardware itself, we broke down the Malaysian pricing for both models at launch. The Samsung Health app is a free download on the Google Play Store and the Galaxy Store.
The takeaway is simple: the watch you may already wear is being pointed at the parts of daily health that are easiest to ignore, hydration, recovery and whether you moved at all today.
