For Malaysian runners building toward a marathon, Suunto has put its lightest running watch yet on local shelves. The Suunto Run 2 is on sale here from 1 October, starting at RM1,549, and it is built around a simple idea: a watch light enough to forget while it tracks the whole run.

Suunto Run 2: a 35g watch built to stay on
At 35g for the watch body and 11.7mm thick, the Run 2 is designed to sit on the wrist through training, sleep and recovery, so all three show up in the same picture. The 1.32-inch AMOLED display now reaches over 2,000 nits, three times brighter than the first Suunto Run, which keeps pace, distance and heart rate readable in direct sun. Suunto rates the battery at around 10 days of everyday use with training, or up to 24 hours with dual-band GNSS tracking, a 29 percent step up from the original. The case pairs a stainless steel bezel, Gorilla Glass and 5 ATM water resistance.
Numbers a runner can act on
Run 2 carries a redesigned 12-channel wrist heart rate sensor behind curved sensor glass, and new-generation dual-band GNSS that tracks L1 and L5 signals across GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS to keep distance and pace closer to the real route. On the run, EnergySense shows current effort against what is left in the tank, and Live Finish Prediction projects a finishing time from current pace, so the call to hold, ease off or push stays with the runner. Training Plan turns a goal such as a sub-four-hour marathon into individual sessions, and on race day Marathon Mode adds a Ghost Runner to chase.
Free worldwide offline maps download to the watch and work from the wrist, so routes stay available once the familiar roads end. Music can also be stored on the watch and played to wireless headphones, so the phone can stay at home on an easy run.
The Smart Heart Rate Belt 2
Launching alongside the watch, the Suunto Smart Heart Rate Belt 2 is aimed at runners who train by intensity. It uses ECG-based detection for beat-to-beat R-R interval data, the input that feeds ZoneSense, which reads exercise intensity as it is on the day rather than from fixed heart rate zones (ZoneSense needs a compatible Suunto watch). A six-axis sensor adds running-form data such as cadence, ground contact time and left-right balance, around 20 hours of rolling memory holds it, and Suunto quotes roughly 460 hours of battery. The belt can feed the same live heart rate to as many as three devices at once. Price and availability in Malaysia
The Suunto Run 2 is available from 1 October 2026 through official and authorised Malaysian stores:
- 4GB: RM1,549
- 64GB: RM1,699
- Colours: All Black, Feather Gold and Aloe Green
The Suunto Smart Heart Rate Belt 2 is on sale from the same date at RM599. Both are sold through Suunto Malaysia's official channels, including its Shopee and Lazada stores. The launch runs under Suunto's See the Run Ahead campaign, fronted by US Olympic marathoner Clayton Young.
The takeaway
For runners who already trust Suunto for maps and battery life, the Run 2 reads less as a reinvention than a sharper version of the first Run: brighter, longer-lasting and a touch lighter, at a price that sits below the top tier of marathon watches.
