With a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a vibrant 6.82-inch AMOLED display, and a quad-camera setup co-developed with Hasselblad; we're talking about the OPPO Find X8 Ultra, reportedly one of the best premium photography smartphones you can find right now.

The OPPO Find X8 Ultra is OPPO's latest flagship smartphone, with top-tier specifications and a focus on photography excellence. Aside the premium performance and cutting-edge camera capabilities, its photography prowess certainly deserves some attention; the level of details it can capture from landscape all the way down to macro is outstanding.

Unfortunately, like its predecessor, the OPPO Find X8 Ultra will not be officially available to Malaysians and the rest of the world. In fact this is a China-exclusive product with limited units, adding a layer of premiumity to this phone. Not to mention, the phone's ColorOS 15 is currently tailored to the Chinese market and has limited language support.

If you're interested to take the leap and get the smartphone (which means, a China version) without official support, the phone's currently available through third party apps on Shopee and Lazada Malaysia.

Otherwise, below are more information about its imaging system, and image samples.

OPPO Find X8 Ultra's quad camera imaging system is co-developed with photography company Hassleblad. Its quad 50MP set up contains 50MP main sensors and AI capabilities such as telephoto zoom and imaging remaster. AI tone mapping is also built-in to produce better depth and details in images especially portrait mode, resembling quality that rivals most high-end, consumer-level mirrorless cameras today.

The camera technology in the Find X8 Ultra is also premium at best, and is likely the reason why units are in limited quantity.

Within the Find X8 Ultra, it leverages on OPPO's True Chroma Camera (9-channel multispectral system) to produce accurate white balance and colour temperature, as well as OPPO's HyperTone Image Engine to produce results despite challenging lighting conditions.

Simply put, the OPPO Find X8 Ultra promises imaging results that are true to colour, with little to no loss of sharpness and details even in challenging lighting conditions.

Image samples as of below, as taken by ProductNation's media guest and photography enthusiast Umar.

In his video, Umar showcases image samples, including amazing macro shots that goes beyond 6x zoom. Umar also shares flaws and the technicalities behind the imaging technology that powers the ultimate-mobile-camera that is OPPO Find X8 Ultra.

Key specifications below:

  • Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset delivering high-end performance.
  • Display: 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED with 1440 x 3168 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support.
  • Camera System:
    • 50MP Quad rear cameras co-developed with Hasselblad
    • 32MP front-facing camera for high-quality selfies.
  • Battery & Charging: 6100mAh battery supporting 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
  • Build & Durability: IP68/IP69-rated for dust and water resistance, with a premium glass and metal construction.
  • Operating System: Android 15 with ColorOS 15, offering a smooth and customizable user experience.

Although limited in quantity, at this point we can jokingly-but-not-really say that OPPO Find X8 Ultra poses as a near-excellent standalone camera with smartphone functions.

On a more serious note; if you have the chance and opportunity to get the OPPO Find X8 Ultra, do take it. Its camera performance outshines its status of availability, being a one-of-a-kind pro-grade camera phone that would only reach the hands of average camera users only in the next few years later.

For Malaysians, while we get to enjoy special relations with China which means easier access to the phone via third-party merchants, do proceed with caution especially if you dislike having limited software and hardware support.
