Samsung is adding Malay to Galaxy AI, letting Malaysians use its translation, transcription and summarisation tools in their own language. Malay now works on Call Assist, Note Assist, Interpreter and Transcript Assist, which also gain Hungarian, taking Samsung's Live Translate to 24 languages.
Samsung frames this as a wider push to expand Galaxy AI across more of its features, starting with the ones that translate, transcribe and summarise, so the tools work in a user's own language instead of defaulting to English. Now Nudge, the feature that suggests a relevant next step based on what is on screen, adds eight languages to reach 24 as well.
Separately, Bixby, Samsung's on-device assistant that lets you control the phone by speaking in everyday words rather than hunting through menus, adds Polish, Thai and Vietnamese to reach 12 languages.
When it arrives
Bixby's new languages begin rolling out from 14 October, and the new Galaxy AI languages follow in the coming weeks. Samsung has not named specific models in this announcement, saying only that the support reaches supported Galaxy phones.
What it changes for Malaysian users
The additions land closest to home for anyone who moves between Malay and English during a call or in meeting notes. Call Assist can translate a live phone call as it happens, Interpreter handles a face-to-face conversation across two languages, and Transcript Assist turns a recording into a written summary. Note Assist can summarise and format notes. With Malay in the list, those tools now read and speak the language most of the country uses day to day, rather than asking users to work in English first.
Galaxy AI began as a headline feature on Samsung's flagships and has been spreading across the range. We have run through the Galaxy AI features on the Galaxy S26 series and the Galaxy AI tools Samsung is keeping free. This update widens who can use them in Malaysia.
