Apple has released its latest round of software updates for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV, and they are free to download in Malaysia now. The company frames iOS 26.6 and its companion releases around two ideas: stronger controls for parents, and a broad speed-up across the devices people already own. To install, owners open Settings, then General, then Software Update.

New tools for parents
The headline change is a set of controls built around child accounts, which Apple now requires for children under 13 and offers up to age 18. Parents choose exactly which apps a child can open and add more over time, and they decide who a child can reach through Messages, FaceTime and Phone, with new contacts needing approval first. A feature called Ask to Browse asks for a parent's sign-off before a child opens a new website in Safari, while Time Allowances gives age-based guidance for time spent in categories such as social media, entertainment and games. Communication Safety now blocks gory and violent content in shared images and videos, including on FaceTime calls, on top of the existing nudity filter. Screen Time itself has been redesigned with one-tap controls and an alert if a child's Screen Time passcode is entered on their device.
Faster, with a few new touches
Apple says everyday tasks feel quicker across the line-up. It claims apps launch up to 30 percent faster, photos load up to 70 percent faster after they are taken, and AirDrop transfers move up to 80 percent faster on iPhone and iPad. Search has been rebuilt across Spotlight, Photos and Mail for more reliable results, and Mail now ranks the most relevant hits at the top.
Beyond speed, a new slider lets users dial the Liquid Glass interface from ultra-clear to fully tinted. AirPods gain a custom three-band equaliser, Apple Wallet can split a restaurant bill and settle up with Apple Cash, the Health app adds perimenopause and menopause support in Cycle Tracking, and Apple Maps expands its immersive Flyover view to more cities. On Apple Watch, a dynamic app grid surfaces Siri-suggested apps, and Workout Buddy now speaks Spanish as well as English.
Why it matters in Malaysia
A free software update reaches far more Malaysians than any single new device, because it lands on hardware people already carry. It follows Apple's recent local pricing for the iPhone 18 range and the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, and it costs nothing for anyone already on a supported device.
