Apple released iOS 27.2 on 26 October, an iOS 27 update. If you own an iPhone 11 or later in Malaysia, here is what is in it and whether to install it now. It is an over-the-air update from Settings, and the matching iPadOS 27.2 covers the iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad and iPad mini generations Apple lists.

The reason to update promptly: 163 security issues fixed
The most consequential part of iOS 27.2 is not a feature, it is a repair job. Apple's security notes for iOS 27.2 do not print a running total, but counting the unique CVE identifiers Apple lists on that page gives 163, each one a tracked vulnerability the update patches (we counted the unique CVE identifiers on the live advisory). They span the parts of the phone that handle untrusted content: WebKit, the engine behind Safari and in-app web views; ImageIO, which opens photos people send you; and audio and media components including CoreAudio and CoreMedia. Apple notes that some of the issues could be triggered by a maliciously crafted web page or file, which is the ordinary reason an update of this size is worth installing sooner rather than later.

New for people who film on their phone
For creators, the FaceTime changes are the ones worth knowing about. TechCrunch reports that iOS 27.2 brings FaceTime Dual Capture, which shows the front and rear camera views at once, to group calls on supported iPhones, so your face and whatever you are pointing at both appear. The same report says the update also lets you add a live captioner or a sign-language interpreter to a FaceTime call. Owners of Apple's foldable iPhone Duo, TechCrunch adds, gain an Edge Light effect that brightens the screen edges to light the face on a video call, and Apple Pencil support in apps such as Notes and Preview. None of this replaces a real camera app, and for proper manual control we have covered a free app that unlocks cinema controls on the iPhone 18 Pro, but Dual Capture on a group call is a useful two-angle trick.
A smarter Siri, with one gap for Malaysians
TechCrunch reports that Siri can now remember details from earlier conversations, so you can refer back to something it told you without starting over. TechCrunch reports that iOS 27.2 also adds five languages to Siri's AI features in beta: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Bahasa Malaysia is not among those five, so Malay is not part of this round of the expansion. These Siri AI features also need a newer, Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone and are offered in beta, so not every iPhone 11 or later gets them.

The smaller changes
TechCrunch also reports that Messages can now suggest turning part of a chat into a reminder or a calendar event, and that Shared Albums in Photos let you edit captions and add comments, with a reminder before a shared album expires. Apple's foldable, the iPhone Duo, is the device those Edge Light and Apple Pencil additions target, and we covered its Malaysian launch through CelcomDigi.
How to get it
Open Settings, tap General, then Software Update, and the phone offers iOS 27.2 if it is eligible. Apple notes features can vary by model, region and language, and we have not tested each one locally, but because it patches security vulnerabilities, it is one worth installing soon.
