If a Samsung Galaxy A07 or Galaxy A17 was on your shortlist, the maths shifted on 27 July 2026. Samsung Malaysia has raised the recommended retail prices of both budget phones, so the cost of getting into its most popular A series is now higher than it was a day earlier.

What changed on the Galaxy A07 and A17 price list
The revision covers the 8GB RAM, 256GB storage versions of four models, spanning the 5G and LTE editions of each phone. Here is the before and after:
- Galaxy A07 LTE (8GB + 256GB): was RM899, now RM1,049
- Galaxy A07 5G (8GB + 256GB): was RM1,029, now RM1,149
- Galaxy A17 LTE (8GB + 256GB): was RM949, now RM1,149
- Galaxy A17 5G (8GB + 256GB): was RM1,149, now RM1,299
The jumps run from RM100 to RM200 depending on the model. In percentage terms the LTE versions move the most, with the Galaxy A17 LTE climbing RM200 on a phone that started under RM1,000.
Why Samsung says the prices went up
Samsung points to rising global component costs, and singles out memory. Prices for memory chips and RAM have climbed as demand from AI infrastructure and data centre expansion pulls supply toward buyers willing to pay more for it. Every phone needs RAM and storage, and the budget tier has the least room to absorb that kind of increase without cutting into already thin margins, which is why an entry-level line is often where a component squeeze surfaces first.
The company says it tried to hold the line before adjusting the prices, and that the A series will keep its focus on durability and long-term value rather than chasing the top of the range.
What it means if you are buying now
For anyone weighing a sub-RM1,300 Samsung phone, the practical point is timing. Stock already on shelves at the old price, and any bundle a retailer had running, may still reflect the previous figure for a while, so it is worth checking the actual price in front of you rather than assuming the revision has reached every store and every online listing at once. Trade-in credit and telco plans can also close some of the gap.
The wider signal is worth filing away. Memory is one of the biggest single costs in a cheap phone, and if those prices stay high, the A07 and A17 are unlikely to be the last affordable handsets to see a quiet increase before the year is out.
