Samsung has opened a limited promotion in Malaysia that pays users to start making QR payments through Samsung Wallet. Link Maybank's MAE QR Pay to the wallet and activate it, and the account gets an instant RM5 credit, with up to RM60 worth of Samsung Rewards points on offer each month after that as you spend. The catch is the clock: the promotion ends on 30 October 2026, while stocks last.
The hook Samsung is leaning on is that the points come from money you were spending anyway. Everyday QR transactions, the morning kopi, lunch, a parking charge, earn up to 2,000 Samsung Rewards points a month, which Samsung values at around RM60, with no extra outlay. The points are redeemable against Galaxy smartphones, Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Watch and other Samsung products, which is the part that turns small change into a device discount down the line.
Samsung puts the longer-term figure at points worth up to RM2,160 over three years for someone who keeps hitting the monthly ceiling. That number assumes the maximum every month for 36 months, so treat it as a best case rather than a promise, especially as the headline RM5 and RM60 incentives are tied to the promotional window that closes on 30 October.
Mechanically, nothing changes about how you pay. MAE QR Pay runs on Malaysia's DuitNow QR rails, so the link and scan flow is the same one Malaysians already use at a mamak, a market stall or a cafe counter. The difference is that each scan now also drips points into a Samsung Rewards balance, provided you have activated QR Pay inside Samsung Wallet first.
Who it suits: a heavy QR user on a Galaxy phone who was going to spend that money regardless. For them it is close to found value. A light user, or anyone not already in Samsung's hardware world, will see the RM60 ceiling as more theoretical than real, since the points only convert cleanly into Samsung products.
