Proton e.MAS 7 to Debut New Variant at KLIMS 2026

PRO-NET will reveal a new Proton e.MAS 7 variant at KLIMS 2026, with reports pointing to a larger battery and longer range. Here is what is confirmed so far.

Proton's electric arm is heading to this year's big Malaysian motor show with its full battery lineup, and the headline act is a new version of its most popular EV. PRO-NET has confirmed that a new Proton e.MAS 7 variant will make its first public appearance at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026.

What Proton has confirmed about the e.MAS 7 at KLIMS 2026

According to the company, PRO-NET will display its most comprehensive electric line-up yet at KLIMS 2026, running from 11 to 21 June at MITEC in Kuala Lumpur. The new e.MAS 7 variant is the centrepiece, and its debut coincides with the e.MAS brand marking its second anniversary in Malaysia. Proton has not yet published the new variant's full specifications, pointing readers instead to its e.MAS newsroom for updates.

The current e.MAS 7 line-up, with a new variant joining at KLIMS 2026.

Where the e.MAS 7 stands today

For context, the e.MAS 7 currently comes in two flavours. The Prime uses a 49.52 kWh AEGIS Short Blade battery rated for 345 km on the WLTP cycle and starts at RM99,800 on the road. The Premium steps up to a 60.22 kWh pack good for 410 km WLTP and starts at RM115,800. Both share the same SUV body, a 15.4-inch touchscreen, Level 2 driver assistance, and a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating, with the model scoring the highest of any passenger vehicle tested in 2024.

What to expect from the new variant

Proton is keeping the details under wraps until the show, so anything beyond the official line is informed guesswork for now. Malaysian automotive outlets including Paultan, AutoBuzz and SoyaCincau expect the update to centre on a larger battery, reportedly a 68.39 kWh pack that could push WLTP range to around 475 km, with the reveal pencilled in for the 11 June media day. Those figures are reports rather than confirmed numbers, so it is worth waiting for Proton's own announcement before treating them as final.

The timing matters because the EV race in Malaysia is tightening. BYD is bringing a rear-wheel-drive Atto 3 to the same show, and a longer-range e.MAS 7 would help Proton answer rivals that have been creeping past it on the spec sheet. For buyers who liked the e.MAS 7 but wanted more range for intercity trips, KLIMS 2026 is the event to watch.

If you are planning to attend, the new e.MAS 7 variant will be on the floor at MITEC from 11 June, with the rest of Proton's electric range alongside it.
