Apple Health Age in Malaysia: Cheapest iPhone and Watch Pair Is RM4,348, No Malay Yet

Apple's redesigned Health app, with a new Longevity tab and a score called Health Age, is in the iOS 27.3 developer beta now and will reach iPhones "as a free software update later this year", Apple said on 3 November. It is built on Apple Intelligence, and that settles two things for a Malaysian buyer: which iPhone you need, and which language the phone has to be set to.

Quick facts

  • Status: in the iOS 27.3 developer beta since 3 November; public release "later this year", with no date given.
  • Needs: the app runs on iPhones with Apple Intelligence, and Apple says Health Age requires an Apple Watch. As of 7 November Apple has not published a full compatibility list.
  • Cheapest iPhone and Apple Watch on Apple's Malaysian store today: iPhone 17e from RM3,299 and Apple Watch SE 3 from RM1,049, RM4,348 together. That is a price, not a confirmed Health Age setup.
  • Languages: Apple lists English, Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese for the new Health app. Malay is not one of them.

What Health Age does

Apple says the Longevity tab looks at heart health, sleep, mental wellbeing, movement, metabolic health, hearing and nutrition over time. Health Age turns Apple Watch readings, including VO2 max, resting heart rate, sleep and heart rate variability, into a figure that "reflects how a user's body is tracking relative to their chronological age". Lab results such as A1c and LDL cholesterol can be added.

A new Insights tab gives summaries across heart, sleep, readiness, fitness, vitals and cycle tracking through the day. There is also an at-home movement check that uses the iPhone camera and Apple Watch to measure flexibility, strength, balance, movement mechanics and VO2 max. Apple says it runs entirely on the device and that "no video is ever recorded, stored, or shared".

What it costs to try in Malaysia

Apple's Malaysian support page lists Apple Intelligence on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone Air and iPhone Duo. On Apple's Malaysian online store on 7 November, the cheapest iPhone listed is the iPhone 17e from RM3,299. Health Age needs an Apple Watch, and the cheapest one Apple sells here is the Apple Watch SE 3 from RM1,049. Together that is RM4,348, for the base model of each.

That RM4,348 is the price of the cheapest pair, not a confirmed Health Age setup. As of 7 November, Apple has not published which Apple Watch models support Health Age. The SE 3 does list VO2 max and sleep stages on its Malaysian spec page, two of the readings Health Age draws on, but that is not the same as Apple naming it. The chart above shows three example pairs at their starting prices, not equal configurations. Apple also says some features need users to be 18 or older. For the VO2 max estimate, Apple says AirPods Pro 3 or a third-party heart rate sensor can stand in for the Watch.

The language catch

Apple Intelligence only works when the iPhone's device language and Siri language are set to the same supported language. The Malaysian support page lists 16: English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese and Korean. Malay is not on it.

16 Apple Intelligence languages listed on Apple's Malaysian support page, Malay not among them

The Health app list is shorter again, as above. Neither list includes Malay, so an iPhone set to Malay sits outside what Apple supports today. One set to English or Chinese meets the language requirement, though Apple says some features may still vary by region. It is the same gap that showed when iOS 27.2 brought Siri AI to more languages in October. In a separate test of our own, the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Malay came to 56% more tokens than the English version on OpenAI's o200k_base tokenizer. That covers one document and one tokenizer, not AI in general.

Apple lists 16 language versions for Apple Intelligence and 11 for the redesigned Health app, Malay in neither

Apple says it "will continue to expand support for the redesigned Health app in new languages". It has not named the next ones, or a date.
