The Malaysian price list

We read every configuration on Apple Malaysia's online store on 5 November 2026. The Pro and the Pro Max differ by RM500 at every size, so the storage upgrade prices are identical on both. Going from 256GB to 1TB adds 768GB for RM3,000, about RM3.91 per extra gigabyte.

Bar chart: what bigger storage adds to the iPhone 18 Pro price in Malaysia, RM1,000 for 512GB, RM3,000 for 1TB, RM6,000 for 2TB over the 256GB model

For comparison, the Pro Max starts at RM5,999 for 256GB, which we set against Samsung's flagship in our iPhone 18 Pro Max and Galaxy S26 Ultra price check. We counted the Mac version of this in our MacBook Pro storage and memory upgrade prices.

How Malaysia compares with the US

Apple's US store lists the iPhone 18 Pro at US$1,199, US$1,399, US$1,799 and US$2,399. Divide the Malaysian upgrade prices by the US ones and every size comes out at exactly RM5 per US dollar: RM1,000 for US$200, RM3,000 for US$600, RM6,000 for US$1,200. The size-to-size jumps match too: RM2,000 against US$400 from 512GB to 1TB, and RM3,000 against US$600 from 1TB to 2TB.

The 256GB base model works out lower, at about RM4.59 per US dollar for the Pro and RM4.62 for the Pro Max. One caveat: US prices are shown before sales tax, while Apple Malaysia says its prices include tax where applicable.

What the storage costs Apple

A Wall Street Journal analysis, reported by 9to5Mac, estimated Apple's direct cost for the 256GB to 1TB step on the iPhone 18 Pro at US$192, against the US$600 Apple charges. That is the Journal's estimate, not a figure Apple has published.

For people who film on their iPhone

Apple's Malaysian spec sheet lists Apple Log 2, ProRes RAW and ProRes up to 4K at 120fps, and it marks that ProRes mode "with external recording", meaning a drive plugged into the phone rather than the internal storage. We covered the iPhone 18 Pro's support in the Blackmagic Camera app, and set its camera against Samsung's in our side-by-side below.

We once shot a full music video on a phone for no budget, and the log-to-grade workflow behind it is what our phone filmmaking course teaches.

Apple Malaysia's 256GB starting price for the Pro, RM5,499, is the same figure we reported for the iPhone 17 Pro in September 2025.
