Bar chart of the cheapest 14-inch MacBook Pro on Apple's Malaysian store, 16GB memory and 1TB storage: RM6,999 for the M5 on 2 June 2026, RM8,299 on 4 July and 2 September 2026, and RM8,299 for the M6 on 2 November 2026

When the price moved

We read Apple's Malaysian MacBook Pro store page as the Internet Archive saved it. Copies from 4 March, 24 May and 2 June list the 14-inch M5 with 16GB and 1TB from RM6,999. Apple's own Malaysian spec page from late May shows the 14-inch M5 then started at 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage, with no smaller option, so that RM6,999 starting price was for the 16GB, 1TB model. The 4 July and 2 September copies list it from RM8,299. Our copies show the price before and after, not the exact day it changed, and the store page gives no reason.

The nano-texture version moved from RM7,629 to RM8,974 across the same copies, and the M6 nano-texture model is also RM8,974. Starting prices higher up the 14-inch range rose across the same copies too: the M5 Pro with a 15-core CPU and 16-core GPU, from 24GB and 1TB, went from RM8,999 to RM10,299, and the M5 Max with an 18-core CPU and 32-core GPU, 36GB and 2TB, from RM14,999 to RM17,599. We traced the same kind of move when we priced the M6 iMac.

What RM8,299 buys now

At the same RM8,299, the M6 moves from the M5's 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU to 12 of each. Memory stays at 16GB as standard, configurable to 32GB. In its 27 October announcement, Apple says the M6 has up to 30 percent faster graphics and up to 25 percent faster on-device AI work than the M5, and rendered a ray-traced Blender scene up to 1.3x faster than the 14-inch M5 model, in Apple's own tests against an M5 model with 32GB of memory and 4TB of storage, not the base configuration.

For video editors, the M6 model has the 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with up to 1,600 nits peak HDR brightness, an SDXC card slot, HDMI and three Thunderbolt 4 ports, per Apple's Malaysian spec page. New are Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and Apple rates the battery at up to 24 hours of video streaming.
