On Apple's Malaysian online store on 26 October 2026, the iPad Pro's prices sit in the same band as the Mac, not below it. An 11-inch iPad Pro starts at RM5,499, the exact same price as the cheapest MacBook Air. A 2TB one reads RM10,399, more than the two cheapest 14-inch MacBook Pro models. We read every figure below straight from apple.com/my on the same day.
Contents
- An 11-inch iPad Pro starts at RM5,499, the exact same price as the cheapest MacBook Air (the 13-inch, RM5,499).
- The 2TB 11-inch iPad Pro reads RM10,399, more than the two cheapest 14-inch MacBook Pro models: the M5 at RM8,299 and the M5 Pro at RM10,299.
- Add the two options Apple lists beside it, Wi-Fi + Cellular (RM900) and the nano-texture display (RM400), and the same 11-inch iPad Pro configures to RM11,699.
- A keyboard and pencil cost extra again. The Magic Keyboard is RM1,399 for the 11-inch and RM1,599 for the 13-inch, and the Apple Pencil Pro is RM549. For the 13-inch that is RM2,148 in accessories, more than Apple's entire entry iPad (RM2,049).
So Apple's Malaysian store puts the "iPad" name on everything from a RM2,049 entry iPad to a RM11,699 configured iPad Pro, a span of more than five times, and the top of that range sits inside Mac pricing rather than below it.

The prices, read from Apple's store
Every figure below is a current list price read from apple.com/my on 26 October 2026, in ringgit. The iPad line, base "From" prices:
| Model | Starts at |
|---|---|
| iPad (entry) | RM2,049 |
| iPad mini | RM2,699 |
| iPad Air | RM3,499 |
| iPad Pro 11-inch | RM5,499 |
| iPad Pro 13-inch | RM6,799 |
The 11-inch iPad Pro (M5) by storage, read from its configurator. Apple pairs the two larger storage tiers with more memory and a higher-grade CPU, so each row is the price of that whole configuration, not a storage-only charge:
| Configuration (11-inch iPad Pro, Wi-Fi, standard glass) | Price |
|---|---|
| 256GB, 12GB memory | RM5,499 |
| 512GB, 12GB memory | RM6,399 |
| 1TB, 16GB memory | RM8,199 |
| 2TB, 16GB memory | RM10,399 |
Options Apple lists separately on the same configurator: Wi-Fi + Cellular adds RM900; the nano-texture display adds RM400 and is offered only with 1TB or 2TB. Both are independent of storage. The Mac line, for comparison, read the same day:
| Model | Starts at |
|---|---|
| MacBook Air 13-inch | RM5,499 |
| MacBook Air 15-inch | RM6,299 |
| MacBook Pro 14-inch, M5 | RM8,299 |
| MacBook Pro 14-inch, M5 Pro | RM10,299 |
Higher-specified MacBook Pro models cost more again: a 14-inch M5 Max starts at RM17,599 on the same store, and 16-inch models and fuller configurations run higher still.
The accessory question
The iPad Pro comes as a tablet on its own. To give it a physical keyboard and trackpad, Apple sells the Magic Keyboard (RM1,399 for the 11-inch, RM1,599 for the 13-inch), and for a stylus it sells the Apple Pencil Pro at RM549 or the cheaper Apple Pencil (USB-C) at RM349. These are optional, and other keyboards work too, but Apple's own keyboard and pencil for the 13-inch add RM2,148, which is more than the RM2,049 Apple charges for a whole entry iPad. A MacBook includes its keyboard and trackpad in the price.
Why this is worth noticing
The point is not that an iPad Pro is "too expensive". It is that on Apple's Malaysian store the iPad Pro's prices and the Mac's prices overlap, so the common shorthand (the iPad is the cheaper, simpler choice that sits below the laptop) does not hold at the top of the iPad range. A buyer choosing an upper-spec iPad Pro in Malaysia is spending MacBook Pro money, and once Apple's keyboard and pencil are added, more than the cheapest 14-inch MacBook Pro.
We have read Apple's other Malaysian price ladders the same way, straight from its store: how much the MacBook Pro's storage and memory upgrades cost and how much it costs to add storage to an iPhone 18 Pro.
The limits of this reading
These are current store list prices read from apple.com/my on 26 October 2026, in ringgit. They are prices on sale that day, not launch prices, and Apple can change them. The iPad Pro figures are the 11-inch M5 line unless stated; the 13-inch starts higher, at RM6,799. The 2TB configuration pairs 16GB of memory and a 10-core CPU (Apple bundles these at that storage tier), so RM10,399 is the price of that whole configuration, not an isolated storage charge. The RM11,699 figure is the 2TB configuration plus the two options Apple lists beside it, Wi-Fi + Cellular (RM900) and nano-texture glass (RM400); both are storage-independent line items a reader sees when configuring, so this is a sum of Apple's own listed prices.
The comparison to the Mac line sets one Apple Malaysian list price against another, both read on the same day. It is a price-range overlap, not a like-for-like comparison: the 2TB iPad Pro and the MacBook Pro models have different storage and specifications, and what we show is that the iPad Pro's upper configurations cost more than the MacBook Pro's lower ones. It is not a claim that every iPad Pro costs more than every MacBook Pro; higher-specified MacBook Pro models cost more than any iPad Pro. The keyboard and pencil are optional accessories; we note them because they are what add a physical keyboard and stylus to the iPad Pro, where a MacBook includes those. We make no claim about Apple's own costs or what comparable parts sell for elsewhere, only what the Malaysian store charges.
How to reproduce this
Open apple.com/my and go to the iPad and Mac buy pages. Each model's "From" price is on its buy page; open the iPad Pro configurator and the Storage, Connectivity and Display glass sections list each option with the exact ringgit amount Apple adds. The accessory prices (Magic Keyboard, Apple Pencil) are in the same configurator. Every number above is read straight from those pages.
