SAIC Motor Malaysia will roll out the locally assembled MG ZS at the end of October 2026, bringing the compact SUV to Malaysian showrooms in two variants after its preview at the KL International Mobility Show 2026 (KLIMS 2026). The MG ZS 1.5 Turbo carries an estimated price of RM105,000 and the MG ZS Hybrid+ an estimated RM115,000, both for Peninsular Malaysia and excluding insurance.
Ahead of the official launch, the first 1,000 customers who book before 30 October 2026 receive early-bird benefits worth RM3,000, along with five years of complimentary maintenance.
"Developed with the needs and expectations of Malaysian consumers in mind, the MG ZS Hybrid+ features a dedicated hybrid powertrain and a 3-speed Hybrid Transmission that work in sync to keep performance within its most efficient range," said Emory Qi, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia, who added that the result combines performance, efficiency and value.
Two powertrains for one urban SUV
The MG ZS 1.5 Turbo uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 170 PS (125 kW) and 275 Nm of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive. SAIC quotes combined fuel consumption of 6.9 litres per 100 km from a 55-litre tank.
The MG ZS Hybrid+ pairs a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine with a 100 kW electric motor and a 1.83 kWh NCM battery, for a combined 215 PS (158 kW) and 465 Nm sent through a three-speed hybrid transmission. It needs no plug-in charging, can run in EV mode at up to 80 km/h, reaches 100 km/h from rest in 8.7 seconds, and is rated at 4.7 litres per 100 km for a quoted range of up to 870 km on a 41-litre tank.
Space and cabin
MG calls the ZS the largest B-segment SUV in its class, at 4,430 mm long and 1,818 mm wide. Boot space is 443 litres, expanding to 1,457 litres with the rear seats folded. Inside, the cabin gets a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch floating infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The exterior carries Connected Hunter Eyes headlights, a black grille, aerodynamic sculpting, rear LED taillights, a rear spoiler and alloy wheels.
Safety and what is still to come
Every MG ZS comes with MG PILOT, the brand's suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems at ADAS 2.5 level, including Intelligent Cruise Assist. The ZS slots in just above the fully electric MG MGS5 EV, which arrived in Malaysia at RM103,900, and lands as MG keeps expanding its 3S sales and service network, now at 26 centres. Both ZS prices are described as estimated, with the firm figures due at the official launch.
