Samsung's Bespoke AI Fridge Stops Durian Smell Spreading, Holds 70% Humidity in Malaysia

Samsung has put the fridge at the centre of the second episode of its Home at Heart Series, and the pitch is squarely Malaysian: our kitchens hold a wider mix of food than ever, from a weekly grocery haul to festive cooking and a rotating cast of leftovers, and the appliance keeping it all is expected to do more than run cold.

Keeping durian and belacan to themselves

The most Malaysian problem a fridge faces is smell. Sambal, belacan, curries, last night's leftovers and a cut durian all share the same box, and their aromas do not stay put. Samsung's Bespoke AI Top Mount Freezer answers that with a feature it calls Zero Odor Transfer, built on Twin Cooling Plus. Because the fridge and freezer run on separate cooling systems rather than sharing one airflow, odours are far less likely to travel from one compartment to another, so ingredients hold on to their own flavour and scent.

Holding 70% humidity for fresher produce

The same Twin Cooling Plus system is designed to keep humidity in the refrigerator compartment at up to 70 percent. Leafy vegetables and fruit wilt when the air around them is too dry, so a more humid compartment is meant to keep a grocery run plump and usable for longer, which is the practical difference between cooking what you bought and throwing a third of it away.

Five ways to reshape the freezer

Storage needs are not fixed across a year. A family cooking for a festive gathering wants more fridge space; a household heading away for a week would rather the appliance sip power than keep an empty freezer cold; a smaller home has different priorities again. The fridge offers Flexible Conversion Modes, five configurations that let the freezer flip into extra fresh-food space, drop into an energy-saving state while nobody is home, or adapt to a smaller household. It is the same logic Samsung has been pushing across its connected appliances, which we looked at in our piece on SmartThings and home energy, and it lands at a moment when Malaysian households are growing their electricity use faster than almost anyone.

Where to see it

The fridge sits in the wider Bespoke AI range Samsung has been rolling out locally, alongside products like the Bespoke AI WindFree air conditioner. Episode 2 of the Home at Heart Series is on Samsung Malaysia's YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook channels, and the company's local announcements run through the Samsung Malaysia newsroom.
