Panasonic Marks 50 Years in Malaysia With New Fridges, Washers and Heaters From RM449

Panasonic Malaysia is marking 50 years in the country, and it is doing so with three new home appliances aimed at smaller, busier households: a Style+ Edition refrigerator range from RM3,299, a CARE+ Edition laundry line-up from RM3,399, and the Home Shower X Series water heater from RM449. All three were unveiled in Petaling Jaya on 17 September 2026, and all are built around the company's "Japan Quality" design philosophy.

The anniversary is as much a positioning exercise as a celebration. Panasonic says Malaysian homes have grown more compact and lifestyles more dynamic over those five decades, and the new range is pitched at buyers who want built-in looks and less day to day maintenance rather than raw size. "Homes have become more compact, lifestyles more dynamic and consumer expectations have continued to evolve," said Keisuke Nishida, Managing Director of Panasonic Malaysia.

A refrigerator built to disappear into the kitchen

The Style+ Edition refrigerators lead on looks. A Flush Fit design and a Zero Gap Hinge let the fridge sit tight against kitchen cabinetry for a built-in appearance, while still opening a wide 120 degrees with minimal clearance. Finishes run to a glass door in Off White and steel doors in Matte Metallic Black and Stone White, all with gold-silver handles.

Capacities span 590L, 550L and 520L across the line-up. Inside, Prime Fresh keeps meat and seafood softly frozen at around minus 3 degrees Celsius so they can be cooked without thawing, and Auto Ice handles the ice supply. Prices start at RM3,299, which puts the range up against other big-capacity models launched here this year, including LG's InstaView refrigerators.

Laundry that cleans the washing machine, not just the clothes

The CARE+ Edition covers front load washing machines, washer dryers and heat pump dryers, and its headline idea is an Auto Clean Concept aimed at the part of laundry most people ignore: the machine itself. Auto Tub Clean rinses detergent residue and build-up from the drum during the wash, Auto Gasket Clean sprays around the door seal to clear lint and residue after each cycle, and a new Auto Tub Dry dries the tub afterwards to help hold off mould for up to seven days.

The result Panasonic is selling is less frequent manual cleaning and fresher laundry over time. The range starts at RM3,399.

The Home Shower X Series is the most affordable of the three and the one most households will actually buy. It comes with 3.9kW and 4.5kW heating options for faster hot water without losing flow, a digital temperature display, and, unusually for a water heater, a choice of finishes in Ash Green and Matte Grey rather than plain white.

On safety, Panasonic lists nine integrated features plus an Ag+ Crystal Material that helps limit bacterial growth on selected parts. It goes on sale from end-September 2026 at a recommended retail price from RM449, joining a growing set of design-led water heaters in Malaysia such as Rubine's Eos range.

Where to buy in Malaysia

All three ranges are sold through authorised Panasonic dealers nationwide, the brand's official online store and its official stores on major e-commerce platforms. The launch follows Panasonic's last local push into connected living, when it paired smart home appliances with AI home security earlier this year.
