Apple's September keynote, the one it calls "Surprise and shine", starts at 10am Pacific time on Tuesday 9 September, which is 1am on Thursday 10 September in Malaysia. It is streamed on apple.com, in the Apple TV app and on Apple's YouTube channel, and it is the first keynote led by John Ternus, who became Apple's chief executive on 1 September. We will publish one article per announcement as Apple posts each release tonight, and the Malaysian prices and dates as soon as apple.com/my carries them.

How to watch from Malaysia

The stream opens a few minutes before 1am at apple.com/apple-events, in the Apple TV app on an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV, and on YouTube. The keynote usually runs 90 minutes to two hours. If you are not staying up, our articles will be live by the time you wake, and this page will be updated with what was actually announced.

What is expected on stage

Apple does not pre-announce its products, so everything below comes from reporting by MacRumors and Bloomberg in the weeks before the event, and we will replace every expectation with Apple's own words tonight.

  • iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. A new A20 Pro chip on a 2-nanometre process, a variable-aperture main camera on a stacked sensor, a smaller Dynamic Island, a redesigned Camera Control button, and colours reported as dark cherry, light blue and silver. Reporting points to a price rise of USD 100 to 300 over the iPhone 17 Pro line.
  • The first folding iPhone, reported as iPhone Ultra. A 5.5-inch outer screen and a 7.8-inch inner screen, Touch ID in the side button rather than Face ID, two rear cameras, and a price reported from USD 2,000. If it appears, it is the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever sold.
  • Apple Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4. New processors and health features; the designs are reported unchanged.
  • AirPods 5. A new H3 chip in two versions, with and without noise cancelling.
  • Possibly a home hub, a new Apple TV 4K and a HomePod mini. All three have been reported, none is certain.
  • Not tonight: the standard iPhone 18. As we reported on 28 August, the regular iPhone 18 and the cheaper 18e are reported to slip to spring 2027, so the cheapest brand-new iPhone this autumn will be a Pro.

The Malaysian question: what will it cost here

Apple Malaysia posts local prices on apple.com/my at the end of the keynote or in the hours after it, and they are never a straight conversion of the US price. For reference, last year's range started at RM3,999 for the iPhone 17, RM5,499 for the iPhone 17 Pro and RM5,999 for the Pro Max. With no standard iPhone 18 this autumn and a reported US price rise on the Pro, a Malaysian buyer should expect the cheapest new iPhone of 2026 to start above RM5,000. We will publish the exact figures, the pre-order date and the Malaysian availability date the moment Apple posts them, with a comparison against every iPhone launch price in our archive since 2017.

What we are watching for as a studio that shoots on phones

We film and grade our own tech video, most of it on a phone, so the camera segment is the one we will be pausing on. Three things matter more to us than the megapixel count: whether the variable-aperture lens is real and how it behaves in video, what Apple does with Apple Log and ProRes on the new sensor, and whether the Camera Control button finally makes exposure and focus lock faster to reach mid-shot. Those decide whether the iPhone 18 Pro is a better filmmaking phone, not the keynote adjectives.
