Malaysians who drive a Ford Ranger, or are weighing one up, have a reason to visit a showroom before the end of August. Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford, the sole distributor of Ford in Malaysia, is running a Merdeka promotion on selected Ranger models and has widened its pick-up and SUV range, as it marks more than 24,000 Next-Generation Ford Rangers now on local roads.

A wider Ford Ranger and Everest range
The 24,000 figure covers Next-Generation Ford Rangers sold in Malaysia since the model arrived in 2022. Auto ConneXion-Ford reads it as a sign of how the Ranger has settled in as a vehicle for work, family and weekends here.
In July 2026 the distributor expanded the line-up. Buyers can now choose from the Ford Ranger Sport in 2.0L and 3.0L, the Ranger Platinum 3.0L and the Ranger XL, alongside the Everest Sport 2.0L and the Everest Platinum. The Everest is pitched as a seven-seat SUV for families who want more room than a pick-up cab allows.
The Merdeka rewards, and what they cover
The promotion is tied to specific models and a firm deadline. Customers who buy a Ranger XL or a Ranger Sport 2.0L by 31 August 2026 receive a complimentary Ford Front HD1080p dashcam. Buyers of the Ranger Sport 3.0L or Ranger Platinum 3.0L get a complimentary two-year Basic Extended Service Plan instead. All Ranger models carry a standard five-year warranty, and the distributor notes that terms and conditions apply. Pricing was not included in the announcement, so it is worth confirming the current figures with a dealer.
Why Ford is leaning on its owner community
Around the promotion, Auto ConneXion-Ford has been running events aimed at existing owners rather than new buyers. In early August it held its first Ford Nation gathering at Heritage Valley in Kuala Lumpur, where families turned out for a barbecue, live music and competitions, including awards for the coolest-looking Ranger and the longest-serving Ford owner.

It also ran another edition of its Ford Ranger Getaways, taking a group of 20 Ranger owners from Seremban on a convoy to a camping site at StarFresh Agro Park in Negeri Sembilan, where a certified trainer led an off-road driving course. The quarterly getaways have run since 2022.
"This milestone belongs to our customers, whose trust and support have helped build a strong and growing Ford community in Malaysia," said Noerel Ismail, Head of Marketing and Communications at Sime Darby Auto ConneXion.
Auto ConneXion-Ford sits within Sime Motors, the group that also handles marques such as BMW, Porsche, Hyundai and BYD locally, and which recently opened a dedicated BYD showroom in Penang. The effort to keep owners engaged comes as the Malaysian car market shifts and buyers weigh running costs and after-sales support alongside the vehicle itself.
After-sales is part of the pitch
Auto ConneXion-Ford has also been adding to its service network. It opened a new parts warehouse in Kota Kinabalu in July, which it says should cut the time vehicles spend waiting for parts in the region. The brand is supported by 33 authorised Ford dealers nationwide, including nine sales and service touchpoints across East Malaysia, with service reaching smaller communities such as Kapit and Mukah in Sarawak.
For owners, the takeaway is simple: the Merdeka rewards close on 31 August, while the wider line-up and the expanded service network are what Ford is betting will keep Ranger drivers in the fold. Full details are on the official Ford Malaysia site.
