For one month from 15 August, every Astro customer can watch the broadcaster's full channel line-up at no extra cost. It is the headline giveaway in Astro's 30th anniversary run of offers, which the company kicked off on 13 August and will carry through to December 2026.

What the Astro 30th anniversary opens up

The free viewing runs from 15 August to 16 September and covers the complete channel line-up. Alongside it, Astro is adding two pop-up channels and stretching what its free NJOI tier carries.

  • Astro 30 (Channel 100), until 31 October: a run of films and concerts including all eight Spider-Man films and the BTS: Love Yourself in New York concert film, plus five original telemovies.
  • Aniplus (Channel 120), until 31 December: a dedicated anime channel with recent Japanese series.
  • Astro X3 on Smart TVs: complimentary access on compatible sets, streaming through the Astro app with no set-top box. We covered how Astro X3 brings box-free streaming to Malaysia when it launched.
  • Four more free NJOI channels: Astro Prima, Astro Oasis, Astro AEC and Stadium Astro join the free tier from 13 August, taking NJOI to 26 free-to-air channels.

A pay-TV company leaning into free and box-free

The direction here is hard to miss. A subscription broadcaster is handing out a free viewing window, putting its app-based X3 service in front of more homes, and widening the free NJOI tier at the same time. It follows Astro's recent move to package streaming services together, seen in how it now bundles Disney+, Prime Video and Viu from RM15. For viewers, the anniversary offers are a low-commitment way to try the wider line-up before deciding what to keep.

Concerts, radio and a showcase

The celebration runs beyond the screen. Astro Audio is uniting its 13 radio brands under KITA FM 2026, a live outdoor broadcast that starts on Merdeka Day at Dataran Putrajaya and ends in Kuching on 16 September, with a nationwide bus tour and a 63KM run attempting a Malaysia Book of Records entry. The MY FM Big Show returns on 17 October at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting, and the Astro 30th Anniversary Showcase lands on 23 August at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur with a line-up of local stars. Customers can also claim complimentary and discounted tickets to events including ALPHA First Wave, the MY FM Big Show, Gegar Vaganza and the KITA Countdown Concert.

"As we celebrate our 30th anniversary we would like to thank the millions of Malaysians who have made us a part of their lives," said Henry Tan, Group CEO of Astro.

The takeaway

The simplest win is the free month. Switch on any time between 15 August and 16 September and the full line-up is open, with no upgrade required. Everything else, from the pop-up channels to the concerts, is a bonus on top.
