Malaysia's top-selling D-segment electric SUV just became easier to get into. BYD Sime Motors has expanded the 2026 BYD SEALION 7 range with a new entry-level Dynamic variant, while giving the Premium and Performance models a bigger battery, longer range and faster charging.

The SEALION 7 has been BYD's flagship electric SUV in Malaysia since 2024, and the distributor says more than 6,300 units have been delivered here, enough to make it the country's No. 1 D-segment electric SUV in 2025. The 2026 update widens that appeal at both ends of the range, and for the first time brings the price of entry down.

A more affordable way in: the Dynamic variant

The new Dynamic is the most accessible BYD SEALION 7 yet. It runs a 71.8 kWh Blade battery with rear-wheel drive, producing 170 kW and 380 Nm, and covers a claimed 520 km on the NEDC cycle. It gets from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and charges at up to 110 kW on a DC fast charger, which is enough for daily commuting with room for the occasional longer trip.

More range and quicker charging further up the range

The Premium variant sees the biggest changes. Its Blade battery grows from 82.56 kWh to 91.39 kWh, lifting claimed range from 567 km to 650 km (NEDC), and DC charging jumps from 150 kW to 230 kW for shorter stops on the road. It keeps rear-wheel drive, now with 230 kW on tap and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds. Premium buyers also get a new Ultraviolet paint option.

The all-wheel-drive Performance sits at the top. It pairs the same 91.39 kWh battery and 230 kW charging with 390 kW and 690 Nm, a 0 to 100 km/h sprint of 4.5 seconds and up to 600 km of claimed range. It is set apart by red brake calipers and larger 245/45 R20 wheels.

Where to see it

BYD Sime Motors is showing the 2026 SEALION 7 at its BEYOND YOUR DRIVE roadshow at GF Luxe (near Parkson) in 1 Utama Shopping Centre from 30 July to 2 August 2026, daily from 10am to 10pm. Anyone who books a BYD during the roadshow receives RM200 in charging credits, and the line-up is also on display at BYD showrooms nationwide.

"With the new Dynamic variant and enhancements to the Premium and Performance, customers now have greater flexibility to choose an EV that suits their lifestyle," said Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia.

For buyers, the takeaway is straightforward: the SEALION 7 now starts lower than before, and the versions above it travel further on a charge and spend less time plugged in.
