Kids smartwatches have become a popular middle ground for parents who want to reach their children without handing them a phone, and Huawei is now in that space locally. The company has brought its Watch Kids X1 Series to Malaysia, with two models built to keep children reachable and safe. The Watch Kids X1 starts at RM999 and the higher-end Watch Kids X1 Pro at RM1,599, both available now.

Built to keep kids connected
Both watches run on Huawei's FamCare app, which lets a parent set up approved contacts and stay in touch through voice and HD video calls over Huawei MeeTime, with AI noise cancellation to cut background noise. From the parent's side, the app handles contact management, usage monitoring, and remote checks on the watch, so the child gets a simpler device while the adult keeps oversight in one place. The series supports 2G, 3G, and 4G, so each watch works as a standalone connected device rather than needing a paired phone nearby.
Location and safety come first
Safety is the core pitch. The X1 Series uses multi-mode dual-band positioning that draws on satellite, base station, Wi-Fi, sensor-assisted, and SOS-assisted methods for more reliable location accuracy wherever a child goes. Parents also get real-time location tracking, SOS calling, Safety Zone alerts that flag when a child leaves a set area, and a Class Mode for school hours.
Cameras, display, and design
Each watch carries a 1.82-inch AMOLED screen and a dual-camera setup, pairing a 5MP front camera with a 13MP rear camera so kids can snap photos and make video calls. The two models also lean into playful styling: the standard X1 comes in softer pink and blue finishes, while the X1 Pro takes a more rugged black-and-white look. Both are compatible with Android and iOS phones, and put Accurate Positioning and Real-time Activity Status front and centre.
