Samsung Galaxy A27 5G Lands in Malaysia With 120Hz AMOLED

The Samsung Galaxy A27 5G brings a 120Hz Super AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and up to six years of updates, with Malaysian launch rebates until 21 July.

Samsung's latest mid-range phone aims to give everyday users a big, smooth screen and a long support runway without a flagship price. The Galaxy A27 5G builds on last year's Galaxy A26 5G, and Samsung Malaysia has confirmed local launch offers to go with it.

What's new on the Galaxy A27 5G

The headline is the display: a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O panel with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, set in a slim 7.8mm body that weighs 200g and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. Inside is a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (4nm) processor, paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, with microSD support up to 2TB.

Cameras, battery and software

On the back, the A27 5G carries a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, a 5MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro lens, with a 12MP camera on the front for selfies. A 5000mAh battery keeps it running, with 25W Super Fast Charging when it is time to top up. It ships on Android 16 with Samsung's One UI 8.5, and is rated IP64 for dust and water resistance.

AI features, minus the flagship price

The A27 5G leans on Samsung's Awesome Intelligence tools. Circle to Search with Google now recognises several objects in an image at once, so you can search for more than one item in a single step, and even try clothes on virtually from the results. Object Eraser cleans up unwanted parts of a photo, while Voice Transcription in the Recorder app can transcribe and translate across 22 languages. The phone also supports Google Gemini, Perplexity, and Bixby as a conversational assistant.

Long support and security

One of the more notable parts for a mid-ranger is the support promise: up to six generations of Android and One UI upgrades, plus up to six years of security updates counted from the device's global launch. Samsung Knox Vault handles sensitive data at the hardware level, the kind of long-term commitment that usually sits higher up the range.

Price and availability in Malaysia

The Galaxy A27 5G goes on sale from 3 July in three colours: blue, black and pink. For Malaysian buyers, Samsung is running launch offers that include RM100 rebates and bundle savings until 21 July, and Samsung Care+ is available for added protection. Samsung has not published a full local price list in the announcement, so in-store and online listings will be the place to confirm the final figures for each storage option.

The takeaway

The Galaxy A27 5G is an incremental update rather than a reinvention, but the mix of a 120Hz AMOLED screen, a 5000mAh battery and a six-year update commitment is a sensible package at this tier. For anyone shopping the affordable end of the 5G market in Malaysia, the launch rebates make the first few weeks the most appealing time to look.
