The budget phone pairs a 6500 mAh battery with IP69+ durability and military-grade drop resistance, with a launch promo from 13 June.

What the vivo Y31s offers

The headline act is the 6500 mAh BlueVolt battery. vivo rates it for up to 9.6 days of standby, and says it holds at least 80% of its capacity after 1,600 full charge cycles in lab conditions, which works out to roughly five years of typical daily charging. When it does run flat, 44W FlashCharge handles top-ups, with a 29-dimension safety system watching voltage, current, and temperature.

Durability is the other pillar. The Y31s carries both IP68 and IP69+ ratings, so it can survive prolonged submersion as well as high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. A triple-layer water-resistant structure seals the internals, the screen works with wet hands, and a water ejection system clears residual moisture after exposure. Drops are covered too: the phone meets the MIL-STD-810H military standard and is SGS-certified for drop resistance from 3.5 metres.

Specs that matter

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 (4nm, up to 2.2GHz)
  • 12GB RAM (6GB + 6GB extended) with 256GB UFS 3.1 storage
  • 6.72-inch 1080p display, 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1,050 nits brightness
  • 50MP rear camera and 32MP front camera, with AI Erase and underwater photography
  • Dual stereo speakers with vivo's 400% volume mode
  • 8.39mm thin, 209g, in KL Midnight Purple or Glowing Black

Why it matters

The budget segment is where battery life and toughness count the most, and vivo is unusually explicit about who this phone is for: people who work outdoors, drive long hours, or spend the day away from a power socket. The KL Midnight Purple colourway, which vivo says is inspired by Kuala Lumpur's night skyline, signals how squarely the company is courting Malaysian buyers. Worth noting: the five-year battery figure comes from laboratory testing, so real-world results will vary with charging habits.

Price and availability in Malaysia

The vivo Y31s comes in a single 12GB (6GB + 6GB extended) + 256GB configuration at RM1,199, available now at vivo Concept Stores and online at vivo.com/my.

A First Sales Promotion runs from 13 to 30 June 2026. The first 1,000 buyers get a complimentary RM50 petrol card, every purchase comes with a six-month extended warranty, and SPayLater users can pay over six months at 0% interest with an extra RM100 off purchases above RM1,000.

For RM1,199, the Y31s is making a simple bet: most Malaysians don't need a flagship, they need a phone that survives the week. On paper, this one is built for exactly that.
