Low battery anxiety is real. Niche, but realme has done it.

realme unveiled a 10,000mAh (10K mAh) concept smartphone that pushes boundaries of we thought was possible (and adequate) in battery life, and most importantly, without compromising portability.

Showcased in Shenzhen, this concept phone marks a key milestone for realme’s bid to become a pioneer in battery tech, targeting users tired of low battery anxiety.

10,000mAh Battery At Just 215g

What makes this concept phone truly groundbreaking is its balance of power and portability. The phone, of course, packs a 10K mAh battery into a chassis that’s just under 8.5mm thick. The body also amazingly weighs just slightly over 215g, which is lighter than many flagship devices.

Developed using ultra-high silicon-content anode battery tech, the battery features a 10% silicon ratio — highest in the smartphone industry and energy density of 887Wh/L, setting a new lithium-ion benchmark.

As explained by PhoneArena, Silicon used in phones are able hold more lithium ions than graphite used in battery anodes (the negative terminal of a battery). This means Silicone-based batteries can pack on more capacity without making the physical size of a battery much larger than required.

Because the silicon ratio is much lesser here, it means the phone is able to pack a lot more of other stuff that matters into the battery technology.

Mini Diamond Architecture — Engineering Masterclass

To make space for such a huge battery, realme completely reimagined the phone’s internals, starting with the introduction of a proprietary Mini Diamond Architecture that optimizes space efficiency. The phone also features the world’s narrowest Android mainboard — just 23.4mm wide.

The 10K mAh capacity is also designed with over 60 international patents for this new structural layout. Especially for those who likes their tech aesthetics on their gadgets, the 10K mAh phone features a transparent back that lets users peek at the tech inside.

So far, the phones follows realme's legacy in high-performing batteries found in their flagships. realme's history consists of fast charging in affordable smartphones, and this concept phone follows that direction as well:

  • Follows the GT Neo3 (150W), GT3 (240W), and realme's 2024 smartphones with 320W charging concept
  • Like released flagships, this new concept phone could potentially support next-gen ultra-fast charging, though exact figures are unconfirmed
  • realme also hints that the upcoming GT 7 Series may carry some of these innovations forward

Battery life is still something many users struggle to maintain and keep a pristine state of in their smartphones, being a huge component that makes up a smartphone experience. With this advancement, we might see more interesting developments to help users keep their phones longer and safely, rather than just AI-batteries and 5,000mAh capacity in this year's releases.
