OPPO Find X7 Ultra Camera Review: Magnificent 50MP Cameras Across The Board

OPPO Find X7 Ultra Camera Review: Magnificent 50MP Cameras Across The Board

We took some really brilliant photos during the APAC Cultural Imaging Tour in Chiang Mai!

We were pretty bummed when we heard that OPPO’s new flagship, the Find X7 Ultra, will not be coming to Malaysia; in fact, it will only be available in China. With an impressive array of four 50 MP cameras on the rear and OPPO’s reputation in mobile photography, it seems like a pity that we wouldn’t be able to get our hands on it.

That is, until OPPO invited us to their APAC Cultural Imaging Tour in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where we got to have first hand experience with the phone!

    Camera Performance

    Daytime Photography

The primary camera on the OPPO Find X7 Ultra has a large 1-inch sensor and excels in daylight conditions. It produces richly detailed images with accurate colour reproduction and excellent dynamic range.

The f/1.8 aperture allows for a pleasing natural bokeh effect, even without switching to portrait mode. The images are sharp, and the depth of field is impressive, providing a professional quality to everyday shots.

The ultrawide camera has an expansive field of view. Despite a slightly smaller sensor compared to the primary camera, it captures dramatic and immersive shots with minimal distortion. The ability to focus as close as 4 cm adds versatility, automatically switching to macro mode for detailed close-ups.

The telephoto cameras provide robust zoom capabilities as well. The 3X Optical Zoom offers high-quality images with a 1/1.56-inch sensor and OIS, suitable for capturing medium-distance subjects with clarity, while the 6X Optical Zoom is ideal for long-distance photographyThe 1/2.51-inch sensor and f/4.3 aperture ensure detailed shots even at maximum zoom. However, a steady hand or tripod is recommended to avoid blurring at higher zoom levels.

The dedicated Portrait Mode, developed in collaboration with Hasselblad, provides beautiful bokeh effects and allows shooting at four set focal lengths (23 mm, 44 mm, 65 mm, and 135 mm), catering to various portrait photography needs.

OPPO's collaboration with Hasselblad brings advanced features such as the Hasselblad Portrait Mode for refined bokeh effects and colour accuracy and the Hasselblad Master Mode, which allows shooting in RAW format and adjusting professional settings like ISO, shutter speed, EV, focus, and white balance.

    Conclusion

The OPPO Find X7 Ultra comes with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display complements the camera system, offering up to a 120-Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ support, and peak brightness of 4,500 nits.
