OPPO Reno11 Pro Review

Review: OPPO Reno11 Pro—Living Up To The Reno Name

Another awesome camera phone for 2024—and it's only January!

OPPO has recently launched the newest addition to its midrange Reno series, the OPPO Reno11 Series. Like its predecessors, the OPPO Reno11 series has some impressive cameras and imaging capabilities. Here, we reviewed the highest configuration of the series, the OPPO Reno11 Pro.

 Design & Display

Our review unit of the OPPO Reno11 Pro is in Pearl White, which has a Shimmering Pearl Design that’s pretty eye-catching. The surface is matted but satin smooth to the touch, so it doesn’t retain fingerprints and smudges.

The phone itself is very thin and light, measuring only 7.59mm in thickness and 181g in weight. The camera module protrudes on the top left of the phone in an oblong shape, with the triple camera system arranged in two circles. The module is pretty high, so the phone doesn’t exactly lay flat on a surface.

On the front, we have the 6.7” curved OLED display with 120Hz. I’m not a fan of curved screens myself, because they’re prone to mistouches, especially with the swipe gestures, but I have to admit that the curved screen fits well with the Reno11 Pro. The bezels are minimal, so you get a pretty immersive viewing experience.

Performance & Battery

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200, the OPPO Reno11 Pro is powerful enough for your daily tasks, and then more. It also comes with ColorOS 14, OPPO’s new operating system based on Android 14.

ColorOS is a pretty intuitive and familiar operating system, but the 14th generation of it brings some pretty nifty features into the phone as well. One of my favourites is the File Dock, where you can drag and drop text, images, and files for cross-app sharing. It even syncs between OPPO devices, so if you have an OPPO tablet as well, you can share information between the two devices easily!

On the whole, the OPPO Reno11 Pro performs pretty smoothly for everyday tasks and gaming. We were able to run Genshin Impact at medium graphic settings with no problem at all. However, scaling it up to high graphics resulted in some stuttering, which was more annoying than game-breaking.

On the battery front, the OPPO Reno11 Pro has a 4600mAh capacity, which, while looking rather underwhelming on paper, actually worked out pretty well. The phone was able to last the entire day with a couple of hours of gaming thrown in.

Camera

OPPO has always excelled where photography is concerned, and the Reno11 Pro is no exception. It comes with the brand’s first Ultra-Clear Portrait Expert Engine, comprised of a 50MP main camera with the Sony IMX890 sensor, a 32MP telephoto portrait camera, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera.

On the whole, the Reno11 Pro takes really stunning photos. Its speciality lies in portrait photography. OPPO boasts that you can have “a studio in your pocket” with the OPPO Reno11 Pro, mostly thanks to its pro-graded portrait mode, Portrait Expert Enhine, and AI Portrait Retouching, and it’s really not an exaggeration.

The Reno11 Pro takes balanced and clear images, with a clear separation of the background and subject when it comes to portraiture. While it does do quite a bit of retouching to the face, it’s not overly exaggerated like some other Android phones tend to be.
