Design and Display

Weighing in at 253g, the Galaxy Z Fold5 is 10 g lighter than its predecessor and 2.4mm thinner than before, at 13.4mm. Unfolded, the device features a comfortable 7.6" screen, providing ample space for multitasking and content consumption. The screen is incredibly bright, boasting 1200 nits of brightness and peaking at 1750 nits.

The foldable smartphone's Flex Hinge is a standout feature, allowing the device to fold seamlessly. While the crease is still visible, it's much more inconspicuous than before. The integrated hinge module with dual rail ensures there's no gap when the device is folded, and both panels lay flat. The front and back of the device are made from Corning Gorilla Glass, while the hinge and bezels are made of Armor Aluminum, ensuring durability and longevity.

The Galaxy Z Fold5 comes in three colours: Phantom Black, Cream, and Icy Blue. Samsung also offers clear gadget cases and a new S Pen colour. Unfortunately, the Fold5 still does not have an embedded S Pen.

Performance & Camera

Like Samsung's flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold5 is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, providing top-tier performance for all your multitasking needs. The device allows users to put up to 4 recent apps on the taskbar and open up to 4 pop-up windows, enhancing productivity. The two-handed drag-and-drop feature allows users to quickly copy content between apps.

The Galaxy Z Fold5 also features a new Flex Mode Panel, an adjustable toolbar that provides rewind/unwind options, content info, and more, all on the lower part of the screen. As for cameras, the Galaxy Z Fold5 is equipped with a 12MP + 50MP OIS + 10MP OIS camera setup, ensuring high-quality photos and videos.

Besides that, it also has a range of accessibility features, including Live Transcriber, Magnification, and Talkback. The Quick Share feature will also be getting an upgrade with the new launch, allowing two Galaxy phones to move away from each other without disrupting file transfers. What I like most about the Galaxy Z Fold5 is that you can bring up a touchpad on the lower part of the screen when the device is half-folded, making it essentially a mini-computer—and the two-in-one phone instantly becomes a three-in-one!

Battery Life

While the battery capacity, resolution, and charging speed remain the same as the previous generation, the new processor is expected to provide better power efficiency. We haven't had the chance to really test out the battery life on the Galaxy Z Fold5 yet, but we're optimistic.
