Roborock G10 review Malaysia

Roborock G10 Robot Vacuum & Mop Review: It's Good At Mopping, But There's Something Bothering Us

Robot vacuums have certainly come a long way in establishing their prowess and uniqueness as a worthy buy for most homeowners whether busy or tired. While most robots are certainly 'experts' in vacuuming up dust, their mop capabilities are still not as advanced in terms of their way of operation.

With us today is the Roborock G10; an advanced robot vacuum and mop that's equipped with LiDar Navigation for mapping and navigation. It also has a Self Washing Mop and Self Refill Water Tank feature, Auto Lift Up Mop Carpet Detection, and a rated suction power of 2500Pa.

Making the robot look all the more impressive is that the robot is quite affordable than many other similar competitors being under RM3000.

In this article, we'll be giving our quick thoughts on the Roborock G10 Robot Vacuum & Mop and discussing if you should buy it.

Set-Up & Use

Setting up a robot vacuum is probably one of the most daunting hoops that someone new to these machines has to go through.

Fortunately, we found this part to be very beginner-friendly when it came to the Roborock G10. While we did not enjoy the fact that the box was very bulky and tricky to carry (a handle would've been perfect), we do love that this robot vacuum is super beginner friendly.

Upon opening the box, you'll be greeted with a big printed set of infographics on how to turn on the robot vacuum and where to plug it in. Instructions for the attachments are also clearly shown on how to insert as well as suggestions on how to keep the cable neat.

Not to forget; the infographics guide also has easy-to-understand and clear visuals on setting up the Roborock Mobile app with the G10. As expected, the mobile app was precise and seamless to use.

Performance

For the most part, the robot did well with navigation. I was impressed at how fast it could map our 2,400 square feet of office space. To note, the Roborock G10 utilises a few navigational features: Masson AI Algorithm (to avoid cables), Auto Lift Up Mop Carpet Detection + carpet Mapping (to avoid wetting carpets), and Multi Floor Map saving feature which lets you keep up to 4 maps.

Although the Roborock G10 barely moved 15 meters, it has already "discovered" its space tenfold.

Upon testing, we found out that navigation is not as precise as the Roborock S series which has a very good, advanced mapping and obstacle avoidance system. That's not to say that the Roborock G10 is a slouch when it's manoeuvring. In fact, it's just a minor issue whereby it might not be able to detect chair legs and such.

But funny enough, its "Masson AI Algorithm (to avoid cables)" works pretty well (on a single dangling cable off the table). So here, we would rate mapping and navigation as satisfactory.

Dry (Vacuuming):

Here's where it bothers us.

Keeping our review simple here; I'd say that we prefer for our G10 robot to do the vacuuming and mopping separately. The reason is that the side brush bristle seems to miss a few spots, being unable to trap everything in sight. So when any debris is left unvacuumed and when mixed with water from mopping, it becomes a ghastly sight to see.

Otherwise, for the most part, we found the 2500 Pa-rated vacuuming to be good wherever it runs over. Every dust, dirt and hair is picked up without issue

Wet (Mopping):

As you can see, the robot vacuum comes with a big docking station which houses two tanks - one for clean water and the other for dirty water.

The Roborock's dirty water tank

How it works is that the dirty water tank will get rid of any dirt from its mop attachment when automated cleaning starts. This ensures that the robot is always mopping with a clean mop and water. Nice, right?

About this much of water was left after cleaning approximately 1000 square feet

Fortunately for Roborock, I've always found the mop to be clean without any dirt debris to be seen. While the mop doesn't dry the floor as fast as some other brands I've seen, it is still forgivable in this area. For your reference, drying under 10 seconds is good, but the Roborock G10's mopping trail takes about 15 to 20 seconds to dry.

Regarding the Sonic Mopping feature; it allows the mop pad to vibrate 3000 times/min, rub, scrub, and remove 99.99% stubborn stains on the floor. In our experience, while might not mop something semi-permanent as a whiteboard marker pen, it can clean somewhat moist coffee stains.

Maintenance

We must commend how well-built the Roborock G10 is.

On the outside, it is made with a strong type of plastic. Here, the Roborock G10 is unfortunately prone to finger smudges easily, plus it attracts dust pretty fast. But on the inside, the two tanks are easy to install and detach so you can easily refill and drain water.

Moreover, every time cleaning is done, the Roborock G10 will actually commence auto cleaning of the mop. So there's no way you will "forget to clean" the mop. All you need to do is clean the robot's surface and sensor once every week, and empty the dustbin so that dirt doesn't leak out when it's filled to the brim.

Still, while I enjoy the fact that I don't have to manually clean the mop attachment, an annoying part I find is that since the robot's mop attachment is back-facing, the device takes time to un-dock from charging itself, to then turn around and reverse to clean the mop.

Conclusion

From

add_circle Satisfactory performance
add_circle Great and fast mapping feature with some advanced navigation tools (ex. avoids cable and carpet)
add_circle Very easy to set up and use - beginner friendly
remove_circle The robot will commence mop-cleaning before every vacuum session, which is time consuming
remove_circle The robot's bristle might miss a spot when cleaning in the first round
In conclusion, we think the Roborock G10 is not perfect, but there's still a place for this robot in your home. Especially for those who need their daily mopping done, the Roborock G10 should be able to free up some of your time daily by doing all of your dirty work with 95 - 99% accuracy. As for sweeping, it's better that you vacuum separately rather than with mopping at once or small debris might clump up.
