Choose it when RM225 is the ceiling and your phones and laptops are a few years old. Best 4G SIM router: TP-Link TL-MR6400
This is the odd one out: instead of plugging into a fibre line, it takes a SIM card and turns mobile data into Wi-Fi for up to 32 devices, with 150Mbps 4G and 300Mbps Wi-Fi. It suits a rental room, a shop, or an area where fibre has not reached, and it is simple to set up. It is the wrong buy for a fibre home, where any other router here is faster, and its Wi-Fi is the older N standard on 2.4GHz only.

How to choose a budget router in Malaysia
Do you need Wi-Fi 6, or is Wi-Fi 5 enough?
Choose Wi-Fi 6 if you are buying today: it handles many devices at once better, and the Wi-Fi 6 routers here cost only RM13 to RM53 more than the Wi-Fi 5 D-Link AC2100 and TP-Link Archer C9. Wi-Fi 5 is fine if your devices are old and the budget is fixed.
What speed rating do you need?
The AX1500 and AX1800 numbers are the two bands added together, and no single device gets all of it. For a 300 to 500Mbps fibre plan, AX1500 to AX1800 is enough for 4K streaming and online gaming, but check that the router has a Gigabit WAN port so it does not cap a 1Gbps plan.
Do you need a router with a SIM slot?
Only if you have no fibre line. The TP-Link TL-MR6400 takes a SIM card and shares mobile data, which suits a rental room or a shop, but its speed depends on your mobile plan and coverage.
How many antennas, ports and USB sockets do you need?
Four Gigabit ports cover a desktop, console and a TV box. Choose USB only if you want to share a drive or printer: the TP-Link Archer AX20 has USB 2.0, the Archer C9 has USB 2.0 and 3.0, and the D-Link DIR-X1560 and Huawei WiFi AX3 Pro have none.
