Lazada Malaysia celebrated the start of it’s month-long 11.11 Online Revolution campaign with a new sales record of more than RM100 million of gross merchandise value (GMV).
CEO of Lazada Malaysia, Hans-Peter Resell believes that the successful start of their Online Revolution campaign showcases the growing trust and relevancy of e-commerce in Malaysia. We also get to see a couple of interesting stats as a result of this single day sale.
More than 10 million visits were recorded on the web and app (3x more than 2016) with an estimated number of 1,400 transactions per minute at its peak on Saturday.
Top Lazada merchants sold more than 50 times their average volume while more than RM1.2 million worth of deals were pre-booked via Lazada 11.11 Gift Cards.
So what were people buying? – Top categories were: Groceries, Baby & Toys and Electronics, with the highest selling products in the first 24 hours being Petronas Fuel Cards, Milo 2.2kg and Pineng Powerbanks.
Also purchased in the first 24 hours were more than 32,000 diapers and 34,000 smartphones and tablets! – Now that’s a LOT of diapers and gadgets!
People purchased items from a price range of 81 sen (Tiger Biscuits 60g) to RM13,499 (Samsung 75” UHD TV). Some customers were even delighted with same-day deliveries, with the earliest being delivered by 11.30am!
