HONOR has tied its X9e Pro, the phone it calls Malaysia's best-selling mid-range model, to a pair of brand films made with the local racing drama TERBANG. Both films lean on one idea: a phone that keeps shooting while it takes a beating.

In the first film, the X9e Pro is mounted on the side of a sports car as driver Ajeet pushes through narrow, muddy roads, rough terrain and sharp corners at speed. It takes flying stones, repeated impacts and rain, and keeps recording the whole run. The footage is cut against flashbacks to his lowest moments, drawing the parallel the campaign is after: the driver and the device both refuse to stop.
TERBANG itself is inspired by the true story of national rally legend Karamjit Singh, following Ajeet's return to the sport. HONOR's two films borrow that never-give-up framing rather than retell the plot.
What it can film
The reason the phone can ride a rally car and still hand back usable footage is its stabilisation. HONOR rates the camera system at CIPA 6.0, with optical and electronic stabilisation working together, which is what smooths out a walk, a drive or a handheld pan. Pair that with a few deliberate camera movements and the clips stop reading as phone footage.

The main camera is a 108MP sensor at 1/1.67 inches, large enough to hold detail in low light such as a night street or an indoor scene. Video tops out at 4K, which gives you room to crop and still keep a sharp frame, and there is an underwater camera mode for shots most phones will not attempt. HONOR does not publish a flat or log profile for the X9e Pro, so plan to grade from standard footage rather than a log file. If you are recording dialogue outdoors, our guide to hiding a lavalier mic while filming in Malaysia is a quick fix.
The X9e Pro is listed from RM1,899 on HONOR Malaysia's own store today, with a pre-order deposit option. That is the official price as we publish; retail promotions can move it.
A phone that holds a shot bolted to a rally car can certainly hold yours. We rebuilt a full music video on a phone for no budget, and our Pocket Cinematic course breaks down the stabilisation, framing and grading that get you there.
