AMD has widened the reach of its machine-learning upscaling technology, saying that FSR Upscaling 4.1 now works on a much larger set of graphics cards and processors through the new AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1 driver. The company also confirmed that support for the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles is coming soon. For Malaysian PC gamers, the headline is simple: a free driver can now bring better-looking, higher-frame-rate gaming to hardware many of us already own.
What the 26.10.1 driver adds
FidelityFX Super Resolution, or FSR, lets a graphics card render a game at a lower resolution and then reconstruct it to a sharper, higher one, which lifts frame rates without the usual drop in image quality. With this release AMD extends FSR Upscaling 4.1 to the Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards, the Ryzen AI Max Series, the Ryzen AI 9 300 and 400 Series, and the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, Ryzen Z2 Extreme and Ryzen Z2 A chips used in handheld gaming PCs.
That older-card support is the part worth noting. A Radeon RX 6000 card is several years old now, and getting AMD's current ML upscaling on it, at no cost, is exactly the kind of update that stretches the value of a GPU a Malaysian gamer bought back then. AMD says FSR 4 is now supported by more than 400 titles, with FSR 4 Vulkan support for developers arriving in the coming weeks through the FSR SDK 2.4 update.
The driver also brings frame pacing improvements for FSR Frame Generation on the newer Radeon RX 9000 Series cards, which AMD says makes gameplay feel smoother and more responsive. Separately, AMD points to its native x86 compatibility for day-zero support across popular titles including Call of Duty, PUBG: Battlegrounds, Valorant, League of Legends, Delta Force, Wuthering Waves, Arena Breakout: Infinite and Arknights: Endfield.
What it means if you game here
If you are running an older Radeon card, the practical upside is more frames and a cleaner image in supported games for the price of a driver download. If you are shopping for a new card, FSR support is one more thing to weigh against raw performance, and we keep our picks current in our guide to the best graphics cards in Malaysia. The promised Xbox Series X and S support also matters for anyone eyeing an AMD-powered handheld, a category we covered when the ROG Xbox Ally prices were revealed for Malaysia.
The announcement came from Jack Huynh, AMD's senior vice president and general manager of its Computing and Graphics Group, in a post on X. The full technical breakdown is on AMD's release notes page, and the driver itself can be downloaded from AMD's support site.
