When we checked Sony’s own Malaysia store on 11 October, every PlayStation 5 console listed on it was out of stock. Nine days later, read again on 20 October, the standard consoles are listed in stock once more.

What changed between our two checks
On 11 October, when we last looked at store.sony.com.my, the PS5 consoles it listed each showed a "Notify me when back in stock" button instead of add-to-cart. Read again on 20 October, the standard consoles are marked in stock and available to order directly from Sony:
- PlayStation 5 Digital Edition (Slim), 825GB: RM2,499, in stock
- PlayStation 5 Disc Edition (Slim): RM2,799, in stock

We are describing two snapshots, our check on 11 October and our check on 20 October, not what the shelf did on the days in between. One store is also not the whole country, and other Malaysian retailers set their own stock and prices. But Sony’s own store is the shelf we have been watching, and on 11 October you could not add these consoles to a cart from it.
The prices did not move, and the console is not on sale
The figures are the same ones that sat on the page while it showed no stock. According to Sony’s announcement on the PlayStation Blog, these recommended retail prices took effect in Malaysia on 1 May 2026, with the Disc Edition at RM2,799 and the Digital Edition at RM2,499. The PlayStation Portal remote player is RM1,099.
It is worth being clear about what is and is not cheaper. The console hardware is not discounted: both the Digital and Disc Editions are listed at their recommended retail price, with no reduced comparison price on the page. If you do pick one up, there are new games to put on it, among them SURI: The Seventh Note, due on PS5 on 30 October. For the machine itself, there is no console saving to wait for here.
What the restock does and does not tell you
Two things it does not tell you: why the shelf was empty when we looked on 11 October, and whether it will stay full. A restock can empty again without notice. What it does tell you is plain and checkable on Sony’s Malaysia store: on 20 October, the standard PS5 consoles are listed in stock at RM2,499 and RM2,799, the recommended retail prices Sony set from 1 May.
For the PS5 itself, the only honest guidance is to read the shelf, not the headline, on the day you buy. On 20 October, the page lists them in stock.
