HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro: A Year On From the GT 6, What's New

HUAWEI launched the WATCH GT 7 series in Malaysia on 30 September 2026, a year and a day after the GT 6 arrived on 29 September 2025. We got our hands on the GT 7 Pro, the top model in the new range, and shot our own video of it straight out of the box.

The same octagonal case, now in a sportier finish

The GT 7 Pro keeps the faceted, octagonal bezel HUAWEI introduced on the GT 5 series, here paired with a two-tone grey case and a yellow silicone sport band in our unit. It still boots with the same simple HUAWEI splash screen as every GT before it, which is the point: the watch looks and feels familiar, and the changes are in what it tracks.

Cycling gets its own live screen

From the workout menu, Outdoor Cycle and Indoor Cycle sit as dedicated modes rather than being buried in a generic list. Starting one brings up speed, heart rate and distance on a single dial, ready before the GPS fix even lands.

HUAWEI's own spec sheet for the series adds climb planning on top of this, so a route with elevation gain gets paced against the hill ahead rather than just the clock.

A ghost runner to pace against

The running screen is the one worth lingering on: two animated runners, one in pink and one in cyan, race each other on the dial while the watch tracks average pace for both. It is HUAWEI's way of showing whether you are ahead of or behind a target pace without making you read a number mid-stride.

Golf and skiing join the sports list

The GT 7 Pro specifically adds golf tools and freediving support to 40 metres over the standard GT 7, and the series as a whole covers trail running, skiing across more than 3,000 mapped resorts, and racket sports through dedicated tennis and padel apps. Our unit's watch face showed the ski complication on the dial, with a dedicated max slope reading sitting next to the time.

What else changed under the hood

Health tracking is where HUAWEI put most of the rest of the year's work. The GT 7 Pro carries a CE- and MDA-certified ECG and an Arterial Stiffness Assessment that the standard GT 7 does not get, alongside a new Physical Readiness Score that folds recovery, heart-rate variability, sleep and activity into one daily number. Malaysia also gets a HUAWEI-exclusive Diabetes Risk Study built with Universiti Malaya, reading pulse-wave signals over three to 14 days of wear to flag a risk worth discussing with a doctor.

Battery life is unchanged at the top of the range: the GT 7 Pro and the 46mm GT 7 are rated for up to 21 days, the 41mm GT 7 for up to 14. The AMOLED display now reaches up to 3,000 nits.

Price in Malaysia

The HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro launched in Malaysia at RM1,499, with a RM100 rebate bringing it to RM1,399 until 31 October 2026, and a further 10 percent off for SPayLater buyers. The standard GT 7 starts at RM1,199. Huawei is bundling gifts worth up to RM713, including an EasyCross strap and a pair of FreeBuds SE 2, through its own stores and on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop.

The takeaway

A year on from the GT 6, the GT 7 Pro's biggest changes are not on the outside. The case and the band on our unit would pass for last year's watch at a glance, but the sports list now covers a season's worth of activities the GT 6 did not track as specifically, and the health sensors on the Pro model have grown a step ahead of the standard GT 7. For anyone upgrading from a GT 6 or GT 6 Pro, that sports and health list, not the design, is the actual year of work.
