Huawei Malaysia has launched the HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 Series, and the local headline is a piece of health research rather than a spec. Alongside the new watches, priced from RM1,199, the series carries a HUAWEI-exclusive Diabetes Risk Study run with Universiti Malaya, aimed at nudging Malaysian wearers to check a risk many never think about until a clinic does.
The line-up has three models. The HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 comes in 46mm and 41mm, and the HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 Pro sits above them. Huawei arrives here having just been named the world's largest wearables brand by IDC, and the GT 7 is the phone-free health watch that ranking was built on.

What the Huawei Watch GT 7 costs in Malaysia
The HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 is priced at RM1,199 and the GT 7 Pro at RM1,499. Until 31 October 2026, a RM100 rebate brings those to RM1,099 and RM1,399, and buyers paying with SPayLater get a further 10 percent off. Huawei is also bundling gifts it values at up to RM713, including a HUAWEI EasyCross Strap, HUAWEI FreeBuds SE 2, three months of Huawei Health+, a one-year Worry-Free Care Package and a one-year APAC warranty. It sells through HUAWEI Experience Stores, the official Huawei Malaysia site, and Huawei's stores on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop.
A diabetes risk study, built with Universiti Malaya
The feature that only matters here is the Diabetes Risk Study, a research initiative led by Universiti Malaya. It reads pulse-wave signals from the watch's PPG sensor and combines them with your age, gender, height and weight to estimate diabetes risk after three to 14 days of continuous wear. It is a prompt to seek advice, not a diagnosis, which the brand is careful to state.
"Sometimes, prevention starts with simply knowing your risk," said Dr Mohd Izzar Anwari bin Abdul Khani. "Technology cannot replace a doctor, and a smartwatch cannot diagnose diabetes. What it can do, however, is encourage us to pay closer attention to our health." In a country where diabetes is one of the most common chronic conditions, a wrist-worn nudge to get tested is the kind of feature that earns its place.
Health tracking beyond the study
The series adds a Physical Readiness Score, a Huawei-first that folds recovery, heart-rate variability, sleep, activity and emotional wellbeing into one daily number. Both watches carry CE- and MDA-certified Pulse Wave Arrhythmia Analysis, while the GT 7 Pro adds CE- and MDA-certified ECG and an Arterial Stiffness Assessment. Morning briefings, Emotional Wellbeing 2.0, sleep and women's health tracking round it out, building on the health focus of the earlier HUAWEI Watch GT 6 Series.
Battery, screen and build
Battery life stays the reason many buyers choose this line over an Apple or Samsung watch: the GT 7 Pro and the 46mm GT 7 last up to 21 days on a light-use charge, and the 41mm up to 14 days. The AMOLED display reaches up to 3,000 nits so it stays readable in direct sun. The Pro pairs a nano-tech ceramic bezel with an aerospace-grade titanium alloy frame and sapphire glass, and the whole series carries IP69 dust resistance and 5 ATM water resistance. Touch 'n Go QR payment is on board, and the watches work with both Android and iOS.
Built for the outdoors
For anyone tracking routes, AI-XDR Positioning combines satellite signals with onboard sensors to hold a fix through tunnels and dense city streets, and Smart Route Reconstruction fills in sections where GPS drops. The GT 7 Pro adds golf tools and freediving support to 40 metres, while the series covers trail running, cycling with climb planning, skiing across more than 3,000 mapped resorts, and racket sports through dedicated apps for tennis, pickleball and badminton.
The short version: the GT 7 keeps the long battery and outdoor tracking that made this line popular, and adds a genuinely local reason to wear one. The RM100 rebate runs to the end of October.
