This is our own video: a quick side by side unboxing of Apple's Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, the two models that went on sale in Malaysia on 18 September. There is no narration in the clip, just the reveal itself, so what follows is honestly what the video shows rather than a script we recorded to go with it.
We had already covered the launch pricing in detail in our Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 Malaysia pricing piece, so this video is the other half of that story: what the two boxes actually look like next to each other once they are in hand.
What our video shows
That is the moment the video is built around, and it is the comparison our own audience tells us they watch these clips for: the same case shape, but the Ultra 4's titanium case reads visibly heavier and more matte next to the Series 12's aluminium, and the burgundy band on our Ultra 4 unit is a genuinely different look from the plain black on the Series 12.
Inside the box
The two accessory trays are laid out the same way but the hardware inside is not identical. The Ultra 4's charging cable and puck are visibly bulkier than the Series 12's, which lines up with Apple's own claim that the Ultra 4 charges faster and holds a much larger battery.
Neither box holds a surprise for anyone who has opened an Apple Watch before: the watch face up, the band separate, the tray beneath it holding the cable and puck. The video's whole point is that the two side by side make the size and material difference obvious in a way spec sheets do not.
What RM1,900 more actually buys
Since the video itself does not read out a spec sheet, here is what we already confirmed when the two models launched, sourced from Apple's own Malaysia pricing rather than a reseller's summary. The Apple Watch Series 12 starts at RM1,799; the Apple Watch Ultra 4 starts at RM3,699, a gap of RM1,900 at the entry configuration for each. For that difference, Apple lists up to 24 hours of everyday battery on the Series 12 against up to 50 hours on the Ultra 4 (84 hours in Low Power Mode), plus the titanium case body our unit is wearing in the video above. Apple has been building that titanium body out of fully 3D-printed recycled titanium powder since the Ultra 3 generation, a manufacturing change we covered separately in our piece on Apple's 3D-printed titanium Apple Watch cases.
What this video does not settle is which one is worth buying: 18 seconds of unboxing is a first look at what is in the box, not a worn-for-a-week verdict on battery life or fit. Judged on what it shows, the size and material gap between the two is real enough to see on camera, which is the argument Apple is making for the extra RM1,900 in the first place.
