For Malaysians who already stretch every ringgit through rewards points, one of the year's bigger expenses, the annual holiday, is about to start counting for more. BonusLink has launched BonusLink Travel, a hotel booking platform that lets members earn Points on their stays and spend Points to bring the bill down.

Available through the BLINK app and the BonusLink website, the platform lets members earn up to 12 BonusLink Points for every RM1 spent on completed hotel bookings. On a RM1,000 booking at the top rate, that works out to 12,000 Points, which BonusLink values at around RM120 in rewards. Members can also put existing Points towards the cost of a booking, either partially or in full, so earning and redemption sit inside the same checkout rather than in two separate places.

The inventory covers more than a million properties worldwide, from chains such as Marriott, Hyatt and Sheraton to boutique hotels and family resorts. Early booking data points to Bangkok, Da Nang, Bali, Istanbul, New York and Kuala Lumpur as the destinations members are looking at first, a mix of short regional trips and longer holidays.

Why the points math matters

The interesting part is not the hotel booking itself, which a member could make anywhere, but where the Points go afterwards. BonusLink Points earned on a stay can be spent across the wider BonusLink network, including petrol at Shell, so a family holiday can quietly subsidise the fuel bill months later. "It's not only another place to use BonusLink Points, it's a new way to earn more of them," said Rossnan Cheong, BonusLink's Chief Commercial Officer.

Loyalty programmes have been leaning harder into this kind of cross-spending. We saw it with Senheng's revamped S-Coin ecosystem, which widened where its coins can be earned and redeemed, and travel is a natural fit because the ticket sizes are large. It also sits alongside the app-based travel spending Malaysians are getting used to, from buying travel eSIMs inside the ShopeePay app to renewing a My50 travel pass through TNG eWallet.

See it at Pavilion Bukit Jalil

Members can try BonusLink Travel in person at the BonusLink Roadshow, running from 3 to 6 September 2026 at Centre Court, Level 2, Pavilion Bukit Jalil. The four-day event brings partners including AmBank, Parkson, Shell, Perodua and SHARP on the ground, with selected items at up to 90% off and vouchers from Klook, BIG Pharmacy and CARiNG Pharmacy. Members who accumulate and redeem 20,000 Points or more during the event get an entry into a lucky draw, with prizes that include Apple AirPods 4, a Black and Decker vacuum, 10,000 Points and travel vouchers worth up to RM1,000.

Availability

BonusLink Travel is live now in the BLINK app, on both the App Store and Google Play, and on the BonusLink website. Members who already spend their Points on everyday things like petrol and groceries can now add hotel stays to the same balance. For anyone planning a year-end trip, that is a reason to check the BonusLink rate before booking the room somewhere else.
