Malaysians who carry a Galaxy phone have one less card to dig out at the checkout. MBSB Bank's Visa Debit Card-i can now be added to Samsung Wallet, which means eligible Galaxy users can pay by tapping their phone or watch instead of reaching for the physical card.
Samsung Malaysia Electronics confirmed the addition on 13 August, extending the list of local banks whose cards work inside its digital wallet. For MBSB Bank customers, it turns the Visa Debit Card-i into something you can spend straight from a device you already keep in your hand.

What Samsung Wallet now does with your MBSB card
Once the card is added, you can make contactless payments at any Visa merchant that accepts tap-to-pay, both in Malaysia and overseas. The same works on a compatible Galaxy watch, so a quick errand does not need a phone at all.
Security sits behind the convenience. Samsung Wallet replaces your actual card number with a unique digital token, so the real number is never handed to the merchant, and each payment is approved through the security built into your Galaxy device. The Visa Debit Card-i is MBSB Bank's Shariah-compliant debit card, and adding it to the wallet does not change how the underlying account works.
"We're pleased to welcome MBSB Bank's Visa Debit Card-i to Samsung Wallet, giving even more Galaxy users access to a fast and secure payment experience," said Matthew Ng, Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Malaysia Electronics.
Why this matters for cashless Malaysia
Every bank that joins makes a phone wallet more useful, because the value of tap-to-pay depends on your own card being one of the supported ones. Samsung has been steadily filling that gap locally: it recently added Maybank's Scan and Pay QR to Samsung Wallet, and it has run cashback promotions for Galaxy owners to nudge people into using it. MBSB Bank's debit card is the latest piece.
For a shopper, the practical upshot is simple. If your daily card is an MBSB Bank Visa Debit Card-i, you can now leave it at home and still pay at the vast majority of Malaysian terminals, since Visa contactless is close to universal here. You can read more about the wallet on Samsung Malaysia's Samsung Wallet page.
The Tap Smart. Win Big. promo, and what you actually get
MBSB Bank is running a campaign called "Tap Smart. Win Big." from 18 June to 31 August 2026 to get people setting the card up:
- Add your MBSB Bank Visa Debit Card-i to Samsung Wallet and complete your first eligible contactless transaction to receive an RM5 ZUS Coffee voucher.
- Spend at least RM30 in a single eligible transaction and you stand a chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Terms and conditions apply, and the window closes at the end of August, so there is little reason to wait if you were going to set the card up anyway.
The takeaway
This is a small, useful addition rather than a headline launch: one more Malaysian bank card that lives on your Galaxy phone, with a coffee voucher and a tablet draw to make setting it up worth doing now.
