Galaxy phone owners in Malaysia have a faster way to pay this week. Samsung and Maybank have built Maybank's MAE Scan and Pay function directly into Samsung Wallet, so eligible Galaxy users can settle a QR bill from the wallet app without opening a separate banking app first.

The two companies signed the partnership in Kuala Lumpur on 24 July 2026. Samsung Malaysia Electronics calls it the country's first Samsung Wallet QR payment experience, and it went live for eligible Galaxy users on 21 July 2026.

What the Maybank tie-up adds to Samsung Wallet

Samsung Wallet already keeps cards, boarding passes and other everyday items in one place. The Maybank integration brings MAE Scan and Pay into that same app, which means a Galaxy user can point the phone at a DuitNow QR code and pay from a Maybank account without switching to the MAE app. For anyone who already opens Samsung Wallet for transit or loyalty cards, it takes a step out of something that happens several times a day.

How it works and where it works

The feature handles QR transactions in Malaysia and across the region. Samsung and Maybank say the same Scan and Pay flow works in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Cambodia, so a Galaxy user travelling in those markets can pay the way they do at home. Eligible payments also earn Samsung Reward points, which sit alongside anything a user already collects through the wallet.

Eligibility is tied to supported Galaxy devices and an active Maybank MAE account. The announcement does not list every compatible model, so the safest check is to open Samsung Wallet on your own phone and see whether the Scan and Pay option appears.

A rewards campaign until October

To encourage early sign-ups, the partners are running a promotional campaign offering up to RM500,000 in rewards, which runs until 30 October 2026. Both companies frame the tie-up as a move toward a cashless economy, pairing Samsung's device reach with Maybank's banking network.

"By integrating Maybank's MAE Scan and Pay functionality directly into Samsung Wallet, we are bringing greater convenience to customers while maintaining the security and reliability they expect from Maybank," said Mohd Amri Mohd Sofian, Head of Community Financial Services Malaysia at Maybank.
