Malaysia's best-selling electric vehicle has a 2026 update, and local buyers get it first in the Asia Pacific region. BYD Sime Motors has launched the new ATTO 3, giving shoppers a clearer choice between an affordable front-wheel-drive version and a longer-range, more powerful rear-wheel-drive one.

Two variants, two priorities
The 2026 ATTO 3 arrives in two trims. The Ultra, priced at RM125,800, keeps a front-wheel-drive layout with a 60.48 kWh BYD Blade LFP battery and a motor making 204 PS and 310 Nm. It does 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and claims 480 km of range on the NEDC cycle, with DC fast charging raised to 110 kW. The Premium, at RM138,800, switches to rear-wheel drive with a larger 74.88 kWh battery, a 313 PS and 380 Nm motor, a 5.5-second sprint to 100 km/h and a 510 km WLTP range. Its DC charging tops out at 220 kW.

Why the timing matters
BYD says it is Malaysia's number one EV brand, having passed 32,000 cumulative vehicle sales, with the ATTO 3 alone accounting for 12,000 units. Launching the 2026 model at Sime Motors MotorExpo 2026, the company is leaning on a "Faster, Further, Smarter" theme. The update also keeps pressure on rivals in a fast-growing local EV market, where range, charging speed and price are the figures buyers compare first. For shoppers, the practical upshot is a sharper split: the Ultra covers value and daily commuting, while the Premium adds range and performance for those willing to pay more.
Pricing, warranty and launch offers
Both variants are on sale now through BYD Sime Motors. The prices are nett and include a six-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 160,000 km battery and motor warranty. Early buyers get a launch package worth up to RM14,000. The first 500 customers receive RM10,000 in early-bird overtrade support, plus a choice of a home wall charger with standard installation or a six-year service package.
For Malaysians shopping the mid-range EV segment, the 2026 ATTO 3 makes the decision more straightforward: pick the affordable commuter or the longer-range performer, with the local launch arriving ahead of the rest of the region.
