Table of Contents

Over at Paris Photo 2023,  one of the world’s largest international art fairs dedicated to photography, OPPO and Hasselblad have announced their collaboration to create the revolutionary HyperTone Camera Systems, set to launch in 2024. This partnership marks a significant leap in computational photography, promising to redefine the standards of mobile imaging.

OPPO's approach to mobile imaging is revolutionary, focusing on aesthetics over traditional technical specifications. This philosophy is evident in their Photography Aesthetics Feature Quantification Lab, which combines the expertise of photography technicians, professional photographers, and colour experts. This unique blend of skills has led to the development of a new system in computational photography.

The HyperTone Camera System includes the HyperTone All Main Camera System, HyperTone Image Engine, and HyperTone ProXDR Display. These elements work together to provide a comprehensive imaging experience, from capturing high-quality images in any lighting condition to enhancing photo viewing with realistic colour and brightness.

Hasselblad's contribution to this project is evident in the Hasselblad Portrait Mode, which offers industry-leading portrait photography effects. This mode, powered by the HyperTone Engine, delivers more natural and three-dimensional portraits with enhanced skin tones and a cinematic bokeh effect.

Besides that, OPPO has also presented a series of exceptional images at the 26th Paris Photo 2023, including works by world-class photographers and winners of the OPPO imagine IF Photography Awards 2023. This event served as a platform for OPPO to demonstrate the potential of mobile photography in fostering cross-cultural communication and artistic expression.

As we anticipate the launch of the next-generation HyperTone Camera Systems in 2024, photography enthusiasts and professionals alike can look forward to a new era of mobile imaging.
