Just when you thought you've seen enough ads to last a lifetime, Instagram announces more — this time in the search results so that they're inevitable.
With this latest feature, Instagram will make it easier for businesses to advertise their brand to users who might be interested in their products. Even though their post vaguely mentioned that the ads will only be for those that actively search for businesses and products, Instagram has made it clear to The Verge that the ads shown will fall within the community and recommendation guidelines.
Aside from the ads being on the search results page, Instagram will be releasing a new type of ad called reminder ads. If you choose to opt for reminder ads, Instagram will send you push notifications of advertisements that will remind you of an important date or an upcoming event. The push notifications will be sent out on three different occasions, which are a day before, 15 minutes before the event, and at the start of the event.
Instagram, like all of Meta's other social media platforms, have always been rife with ads, so we can't say that this is a surprising move. From Explore Reels, feeds, user profiles, and even stories, ads are everywhere - so what's the harm of another one?
