Razer's New Gaming Mousepad Is Made Of Tempered Glass and Costs RM499

Who says mousepads can't be fancy?

Gaming professionals Razer have yet another gaming peripheral up their sleeves: a new gaming mousepad that is not like the other mousepads. And before you scoff, read this: the Razer Atlas is made of micro-etched tempered glass, which makes it suitable even for optical mice!

Gone are the days when we have to manually remove the ball from our mice to clean it so it stays responsive; computer mice have pretty much all gone optical now, and unless you're the kind to splurge on laser mice, you'll know that typically, optical mice have trouble working on glass surfaces, as they're simply too smooth for the optical mouse to pick up on the movements.

Things are different with the Razer Atlas, though. Apart from being made with tempered glass, Razer has added a micro-etched surface with 2-micrometre texturing so it works well with optical mice. The micro-etching is just enough for your optical mouse, but not enough for you to notice the rough surface; you'll just get an ultra-smooth gaming mousepad that looks uber cool and premium on your desk.

For those of you who play competitive ranked matches for “fun”, don’t sweat as the Razer Atlas has a rubber base that keeps the mousepad in position, even if you swipe your mouse aggressively.

Of course, a fancy mousepad will not cost the same as your typical RM5 felt mousepad — this one costs about a hundred times more than that, at RM499. It does come in both classic black and white, so you'll be spoiled for choice.
