The basketball calendar has a new fixture: NBA 2K27 is out now, and Malaysian players can pick it up across four platforms at once. Developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K, it is available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC through Steam, and the Nintendo Switch 2, with the headline changes landing on the court, in The City and in the front office.

Three editions, priced in US dollars
There are three versions, and 2K has priced them in US dollars rather than ringgit. The Standard Edition is USD 69.99 and carries San Antonio Spurs centre Victor Wembanyama on the cover. The Deluxe Edition is USD 99.99 with WNBA guard Caitlin Clark, and the limited Ultra Edition is USD 149.99 with Derrick Rose, sold only for a short window that closes at 11:59pm Pacific time on 6 September 2026. Malaysian buyers pay through the PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Nintendo stores, so the exact ringgit total depends on your store and payment method at checkout.
Gameplay, The City and a first Co-Ed mode
2K describes this year's gameplay as overhauled and rebalanced, built around ProPLAY and aimed at rewarding skill and two-way play, with new dribbling and finishing tools on offence and redesigned hands-up defence and shot contests at the other end. The bigger structural change is The City, which now runs its first Co-Ed experience: players can build a female MyPLAYER and compete alongside male MyPLAYERs across every multiplayer mode, all on the same on-court framework. The REC now rotates between five venues, and a new Crew HQ gives squads a home base for practice, ranked play and seasonal tournaments.
MyCAREER, MyNBA and MyTEAM
MyCAREER gets one of its largest updates in years. A new MyCAREER Eras mode lets you play through five legendary NBA eras, a cinematic story called "Fire and Concrete" runs alongside it, and there is a first co-op MyCAREER for playing with a friend. MyNBA rebuilds its franchise core with a GM Trust system that stakes your reputation as an executive, topped by MyNBA Legacy, a player-locked mode spanning a 100-year universe. Over in MyTEAM, a new Player XP system lets every card level up through play, and the Auction House is now unified across PS5, Xbox Series X and S and Switch 2. A companion NBA 2K HQ app lets you build a player from your phone and send it straight to your console.
What is new on Switch 2 and PC
On the Nintendo Switch 2, NBA 2K27 runs a 60fps Performance Mode for the first time, adds a Fidelity Mode, and includes party-style motion mini-games built for the console, from a three-point contest to a dunk contest and Pop-a-Shot. It also supports GameShare and full mouse controls, the same input the Switch 2 opened up earlier this year. On PC, the game supports NVIDIA DLSS 5, which introduces 3D-Guided Neural Rendering exclusively for GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, developed with NVIDIA to lift the quality of lighting and materials while keeping the player scans intact.
Should you jump in now
If you play on a Switch 2 or an RTX 50 PC, the platform-specific upgrades are the real reason to look this year, and the Co-Ed City is the standout mode for everyone else. The one time pressure is the Ultra Edition, which leaves sale on 6 September. Full details on every mode are on the official NBA 2K27 site.
