For a lot of Malaysians weighing up an electric car, the harder question is not the car itself but what happens after the purchase: where it gets serviced, and how far the nearest branch really is. Proton e.MAS has just made that part of the decision a little easier for buyers outside the big cities.

Six new showrooms, and a bigger network
Proton e.MAS has finished rolling out its new showroom design, opening six newly built outlets and taking its network to 58 dealerships across Malaysia. Those are backed by 45 service centres and 10 body and paint centres nationwide, so owners have somewhere to go for both sales and aftersales wherever they are.
The six new showrooms are spread across five states. Two are in the Klang Valley, at Bukit Jalil and along Jalan Sultan Ismail in Kuala Lumpur, and the rest reach further out, to Temerloh in Pahang, Batu Pahat in Johor, Taiping in Perak and Kulim in Kedah. They are run by local dealer partners: AJG Mobility, Mbf EV Auto, Dunia Auto, Promas EV, BH Autotech and GB Auto.

What the new design changes
The new outlets follow a single retail concept the brand calls its Corporate Identity, built around simplicity, comfort and a cleaner, more contemporary look. Warm natural materials, curated colours and better lighting are meant to make the space feel more welcoming, while a full-height glass front lets in more daylight.
The practical change sits behind the styling. The new showrooms are larger, at roughly 950 to 1,400 square metres, which lets dealers put more cars on display and expand their aftersales operations. That means more service capacity, more technicians on hand and, the brand says, shorter waiting times for customers coming in for maintenance.
"The new Corporate Identity represents the next evolution of the Proton e.MAS brand," said Zhang Qiang, chief executive of PRO-NET, the company that distributes Proton e.MAS. "As we continue to grow, so too must the experience we deliver to our customers."
Why it matters for EV buyers
Aftersales access has been one of the real friction points in going electric in Malaysia, especially for anyone living outside the Klang Valley, where service centres and trained technicians have been thinner on the ground. Proton e.MAS is currently the country's top-selling xEV brand, and stretching its network into towns like Temerloh, Batu Pahat, Taiping and Kulim is aimed squarely at that gap.
For a buyer, the takeaway is simple enough: a nearer branch and a shorter service wait are the unglamorous parts of EV ownership that actually decide whether the switch feels worth it. The six new showrooms move a bit more of that support closer to home.
