Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy Z series in London tonight, and this Unpacked belonged entirely to foldables. The company introduced three phones built around three different ways of using a device, alongside a refreshed pair of Galaxy Watches. Here is everything announced, and what it costs in Malaysia.

Three foldables, three different jobs
Samsung is framing the lineup as three distinct experiences: the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra for maximum productivity, the Galaxy Z Fold8 for immersive everyday use, and the Galaxy Z Flip8 for self expression. The company says the range is built on seven generations of foldable development.

"By setting a new standard for foldables, we are once again advancing the premium mobile experience and opening the next era of intelligence to more people."
Galaxy Z Fold8: lighter, and cheaper than last year
The Galaxy Z Fold8 is the one most people will actually buy, and it is the most interesting phone of the night for Malaysia. At 201g it is the lightest Galaxy Z Fold Samsung has made, and it opens to a 7.6 inch QXGA+ main display at 1,848 x 2,448, a noticeably wider shape than the Fold7. Folded it is 9.7mm thick, opening out to 4.5mm.
Inside is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, a 4,800mAh dual battery, and a dual 50MP rear camera pairing a wide and an ultra wide. Samsung also introduced a new Flex Titanium display structure that it says reduces how visible the crease becomes over time.
Malaysia price: RM7,299 for 256GB, RM8,099 for 512GB, RM9,699 for 1TB. The Fold7 started at RM7,799 last year, so the Fold8 launches below its predecessor's entry price.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: the taller one, and the expensive one
The Fold8 Ultra keeps the taller book shape and takes the high end. It has an 8.0 inch QXGA+ main display at 2,504 x 2,256 and a 6.5 inch FHD+ cover screen, weighs 215g, and measures 4.1mm when open. Samsung calls it its slimmest Z Fold yet.
The camera is where the money goes: a 200MP wide with optical stabilisation, a 50MP ultra wide, and a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. It also carries a 5,000mAh dual battery with 45W wired charging, and adds 8K recording through the new APV codec along with Cine LUT support.

Galaxy Z Flip8: sleeker, and more expensive
The Flip8 is the clamshell, and Samsung describes it as the sleekest one yet. It has a 6.9 inch FHD+ main display, a 4.1 inch cover screen, and folds down to 13.1mm at 180g. It runs an Exynos 2600, carries a 4,300mAh dual battery, and pairs a 50MP wide with a 12MP ultra wide.
Malaysia price: RM5,399 for 256GB, RM6,199 for 512GB. The Flip7 started at RM4,999, so unlike the Fold8, the Flip8 goes up.
Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra2
On the wearables side, Samsung refreshed the line with the rugged Galaxy Watch Ultra2 at RM3,399 and the Galaxy Watch9 from RM1,499. The Ultra2 comes in 47mm only, with an 800mAh battery that is 35 percent larger than the previous Ultra and a 5,000 nit display. The Watch9 comes in 40mm and 44mm, with Bluetooth and LTE versions.
Both add a Heart Health Score, a Fitness Index and a new Hearing feature that warns about unsafe noise levels. We have a full breakdown of both watches in a separate article.
Malaysia availability
Pre orders open today, 22 July, with general availability on 14 August 2026.
