A co-op ghost hunt you can try now
Spook-A-Boo is a top-down, level-based game for one to four players, built around both couch and online co-op. Independent studio Wala Interactive revealed a new gameplay trailer at the India Game Showcase as part of Summer Game Fest, which aired on the official The Game Awards channels alongside broadcast partners IGN and GameSpot. The trailer runs through the core loop: scan a level, detect where the ghosts are hiding, then hook and trap them before the chaos gets out of hand.
The demo is available on the game’s Steam page right now, and the full game is also slated for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. A Steam release date has not been confirmed yet.

Cartoon chaos with a familiar voice
Spook-A-Boo leans into a Saturday-morning-cartoon tone, taking cues from Scooby-Doo and Ghostbusters while keeping things family friendly. It mixes physics-based puzzles, a range of gadgets, and a dedicated button for kicking things, which is where much of the chaos (and the friendship-testing) tends to come from.
The game’s in-world guide, The Warden, is voiced by Kevin Miller, known to PlayStation players as the voice of Sly Cooper and for the cult classic Jet Set Radio. Wala Interactive also released a behind-the-scenes look at the game’s development that premiered at the Women-Led Showcase.
Why Spook-A-Boo stands out
Local co-op games that support up to four players in the same room are getting harder to find, with many studios focusing on online-only or single-player experiences. A title that offers both couch and online play, and keeps the tone light enough for families, fills a gap for groups who still like to game side by side. Wala Interactive is a woman-led indie studio based in India, and the game is published by Singapore-based Soft Source, which focuses on bringing localised content to players across Asia.
How to play it in Malaysia
The demo is free to download on Steam, so anyone with a PC can try it without paying. Wala has not announced a release date or a price for the full game, and there is no confirmed Malaysian pricing yet. Players who want to keep track of the launch can wishlist Spook-A-Boo on Steam to be notified when it goes live.
If you have a couple of friends and an evening to spare, the Spook-A-Boo demo is a low-stakes way to find out whether catching ghosts together brings your group closer or drives it apart.
