Hearthstone's next expansion lands on 8 July (AEST), and it leans into a heist setup that should give Malaysian players a fresh reason to log back in. Escape from Violet Hold sets Vanessa VanCleef against Maiev Shadowsong inside Dalaran's maximum-security prison, and the run features 135 new cards plus a brand new keyword built around setting up high-impact turns.

What is new in Escape from Violet Hold
The headline addition is the Prepare keyword. Blizzard's pitch is that Prepare lets you stack effects ahead of time, smuggle minions onto your opponent's board, and bend a few of Hearthstone's standing rules. The expansion also introduces Legendary Rulebreaker minions, which can run duplicate Legendaries in a deck and unlock a second Hero Power. Pre-purchase bundles, with card packs and cosmetics, are live now on Battle.net.

The run-up events: Prison Break and Lockdown
Blizzard is splitting the pre-launch window into two narrative events. Prison Break runs from 3 to 17 June, with players helping Vanessa orchestrate a series of prison transfers and distracting Maiev for in-game rewards. Lockdown follows from 17 June to 8 July, framing Maiev's full prison clampdown as a set of mission objectives. A new Legendary Quest Chain opens once Patch 35.6 lands and rewards Standard play through to expansion launch.
Battlegrounds and Season 13
Battlegrounds players are getting an Anomalies refresh. Blizzard is adding seven new tavern-transforming Anomalies, bringing 17 returning ones back into the pool, and updating five more, along with tweaks to minions, tavern spells, and trinkets in the back half of Season 13.
What it means for Malaysian players
Hearthstone's South-East Asia regional realm sits on the Asia server, so the 8 July AEST drop translates to early evening of the same day in Malaysia. There is no separate MYR pricing for digital bundles; players pay through their existing Battle.net wallets in whatever local store currency their account is set to. The bigger draw is that this is the first expansion in a while where the design pitch is built around a clear "play first, play differently" mechanic rather than a power-creep set, which makes the free Legendary Quest Chain the cheapest way for lapsed players to test the new toys before deciding whether to spend.
Availability
Pre-purchase bundles are live on the Hearthstone shop and the Battle.net desktop client. The expansion goes live worldwide on 8 July, with the in-client run-up events Prison Break and Lockdown active from 3 June and 17 June respectively. A full announcement post and patch notes are on the Hearthstone news hub.
Takeaway
If you put Hearthstone down during a heavier midrange meta, Escape from Violet Hold is the set most worth a look this year. Rulebreaker minions and the Prepare keyword are unusual enough that the first two weeks of the meta should look genuinely different from anything Standard has run before.
